Hi,
My computer was infected with virus so task manages was disabled desktop, start menu bar was not showing. I removed virus from kaspersky. Then, I ran process explorer, RRT.rxe and hijackthis.exe to enable task manager. It worked. But now webpages are not opening in any explorer. I tried IE 8, IE7, mozilla and opera. But I can download through bit torrent. So, internet is working.

Browsers failing to load pages while BitTorrent still transfers usually means the network layer is working but HTTP(S) name resolution or browser handling is being interfered with. already removed malware with Kaspersky and re-enabled Task Manager; is correct that an out‑of‑date HijackThis can give an incomplete picture. Typical culprits in this situation are DNS hijacking, a malicious or leftover proxy/policy, hosts file entries, Winsock/LSP corruption, or browser helper objects/toolbars.

Practical, non-destructive checks (can be done before deep cleaning): confirm LAN proxy is disabled in Internet Options → Connections → LAN settings; launch browsers with add‑ons disabled / in safe mode to test; open the hosts file at C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts from an elevated Notepad to look for unexpected entries; check the network adapter’s IPv4 DNS settings (set to automatic or try a known public DNS temporarily such as 8.8.8.8 to rule out DNS tampering).

Run these commands from an elevated Command Prompt and reboot afterwards:

netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
ipconfig /flushdns

For cleanup: use up‑to‑date on‑demand scanners (for example, Malwarebytes and AdwCleaner), and use Sysinternals Autoruns to inspect and remove suspicious startup items and BHOs rather than deleting files blindly. Verify router DNS and admin credentials in case the gateway was altered. Avoid running unknown executables found on the desktop; where possible back up important data and set a restore point before making registry or system changes. A current Autoruns or FRST scan log together with the OS version are the usual items needed for safe, targeted follow‑up analysis.

Your HiJackThis is way out of date so the log is likely not valid and I hesitate to give fixes based on this out of date program. What version of Windows are you using?
