last night my system decided to lock up and I had to hard boot it to get it to do anything. Now I am unable to access the internet from this pc at all. The IE screen pops up and it blank. If I attempt to yahoo someone, they can hear me but I can't hear (or see) them. I signed onto my aol account and thought cool,I can get in this way, but when I checked my mail, the content of any mail says OOPS. I then came to the laptop and my mail is fine. I have ran everything I have on my pc to detect issues. Error Doctor, Adware, Spybot, AVG, and some obscure microtrend system cleaner I didn't realize I even had. Nothing seems to help. Can anyone out there give me some advice? Here is the hjt log from the pc in trouble. Thanks.

A few focused troubleshooting steps to narrow this down quickly — you’ve already run HijackThis and a second anti‑spyware scan (thanks to and for those suggestions), so the next move is to isolate network/configuration problems from a persistent malware issue.

Start with low‑level checks from an elevated Command Prompt: run ipconfig /all to confirm IP, gateway and DNS; ping 127.0.0.1 (loopback), ping <your gateway> and ping 8.8.8.8. If you can reach 8.8.8.8 but not www.google.com, it’s a DNS problem — run nslookup www.google.com and ipconfig /flushdns. If you cannot reach your gateway, check the adapter, cable, or wireless connection and try Safe Mode with Networking to see if a startup item is the cause.

If the basic tests point to the local machine, try these safe repairs: reset the Winsock catalog with netsh winsock reset and reset TCP/IP with netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt, then reboot. Temporarily disable antivirus/firewall to rule out blocking. Check IE’s proxy settings (Tools → Internet Options → Connections → LAN Settings) and inspect the hosts file at C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts for unexpected entries. Run IE with add‑ons disabled (iexplore -extoff) or test with another browser to see if the problem is browser‑specific. If only one user profile is affected, create a new Windows account to test.

If those steps don’t restore normal behavior, back up personal data and consider System Restore to a point before the crash or a repair install. Post back the outputs of ipconfig /all, a ping 8.8.8.8 result, and whether Safe Mode with Networking or another browser works; include the full Ewido/antimalware report if available. Those details will let helpers narrow this to DNS/proxy, adapter/driver, Winsock corruption, or an application conflict.

Well, your log looks clean to me, so I don't thinks its a spyware issue. You could download ewido, and scan with that (be sure to update it!). I ntoice you have some AOL components on there. If AOL is your ISP, usally you have to be signed on AOL, to be able to use another browser like IE.

Thanks for your help, I did run the program you suggested and while it found some things I am still unable to connect. I will take this to the windows forum, maybe someone there will have an idea.

Perhaps this will help.
