K_T,

Due to the huge volume of spyware/malware-related questions we've been getting lately, we've created a new Security forum to specifically address those issues. I'm moving your post there now.

:)

Log is clean almost !:)

Important: Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT.
Unzip HijackThis into this folder. When you run HijackThis from this folder and have it "Fixed checked" it will create a backup file of modifications to use if restore is necessary.

Have Hijack This fix the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and selecting fix checked. Make sure all browser and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing.

These are ok but not needed and the cthelper.exe is know to cause the cpu to run 100%,fix on all of these is by your choice .

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CTHelper] CTHELPER.EXE

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NeroCheck] C:\WINDOWS\system32\NeroCheck.exe

This ,nuisance program.unless you use it all the time and want it running all the time

CTHELPER =is a background task that is a plug-in manager for Creative drivers. The theory is that 3rd party manufacturers can use the CTHELPER plug-in interface to produce drivers, add-on features, and fixes that will integrate with a tighter fit with Creative’s sound drivers and utilities. Given its purpose CTHELPER would normally be classified as a "leave alone" background task.Unfortunately there are often problems with CTHELPER, most notably that it can use 100% of CPU time so it's best left disabled

I copyied this in by mistake ,it should be left unfixed as it is actuall quite usefull .

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NeroCheck] C:\WINDOWS\system32\NeroCheck.exe

well thats craptacular. how do i put it back? its all already been fixed.

There should be a backup file in the same folder as hijackthis. Just restore that backup & all will be good.

I stumbled on to the "Links not working in web sites using IE6.0" & followed instructions to download & run Ad-aware & HijackThis. I've done this & still have the problem + I can't print off a web site. Was hoping I could get a little assistance reading my HT scan log.

Sorry bout that. New at this, didn't know I was hogging on your turf. My apologies.

Not a big problem; most new members aren't aware of our posting guidelines and the reasons for them. Please have a read through the " Forum Rules When Posting " Announcement posted at the top of each forum's main page for more info on this.

Also, please start your own thread and post your log there; I'll delete your posts here once you've done that.

Thanks for understanding.
