Hi everyone, Thanks for your wonderful community,

My browser either redirects or a new ie window pops up everytime I click on a link from any page

I have read thru and tried to follow the directions in the Please read files instructing basic clean up procedures and have followed everything pretty much. I did not install and run any other av program because I was under the impression that it would not work well with norton av.

also I did not clear everything out of the documents and settings folder because i know some of these are part of files i want etc. i hope this isnt a big issue...

****I did install and run "fixwareout" as per instrucctions for another poster w/similar problem, the log for that is just after the hjt log below. thanxs***

I have a new freshly updated norton anti virus and a new version of spybot s&d and a new hijack this...I have ran the norton and the spybot multiple times. norton is on all the time...they keep catching worms and trojans and spyware.

I have a new lap top.(last week) but like a fool I downloaded some programs from limewire(friday and saturday). so I am sure thats what started this.

Help! :l

Thanks for your time.

heres the hijack log

Hi, jinx... :), lucky for you you chose a benign tool to play with - you don't/did not have a fixwareout issue. But you do have virtumundo and another couple of pests. So let's start by stopping some things and then downloading some more help.
Run hijackthis again and check the following:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinFlyer32.dll] "rundll32.exe" C:\WINDOWS\system32\WinFlyer32.dll,Run
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SoundService] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\ceamqwdk.dll",setvm

-close all other apps and press fix checked.

===Download killbox from here:- http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip -unzip it onto your desktop.
Dclick killbox to start it.
Select "Delete on reboot", click the "all files" button.

>Highlight the 2 pathnames in the following lines as one block and copy them into clipboard [press Ctrl+C] [ or rclick, copy...]:-

C:\WINDOWS\system32\WinFlyer32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ceamqwdk.dll

In killbox, go File menu, choose Paste from clipboard. Click the red and white X button, click Yes on the reboot prompt, click OK if a pendingfilerenameoperation box opens. [do not be concerned if it says it cannot find a file...]

===Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop from http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it, and click the Scan for Vundo button.
When scan completes click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, so click OK.
Restart your computer and post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log, but before you do that:-.

===Download this temp file cleaner from http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1 --click in the download window to run it, and when ATF Cleaner opens go Select all, and then Empty Selected.

===Next do the online scan at panda:- http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan?
-the link to the scan is just above the padlock pic.... free online virus scan.. enter a valid? email and follow through, choosing My Computer for a full system scan.
Post the log it produces here.

===GET AVG antispyware 7.5 here.. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5 -the link is almost at the bottom of the page , avgas 7.5.0.50. Install it and update it.

Start AVG a-s 7.5; under Scanner/ Settings set Recommended actions to Quarantine, and run the scan. Save the log file and only then click Apply all actions. Post the log file.

Thanks so much...heres what I did...before I read your post I had found avg anti spy from the forum and had already ran it.
I followed your instructions and in order ran it again.
I had to run kill box twice also it was not inthe link you provided its called pocket killbox now, maybe thats why...Iwent to
the subratam site and found it that way.
then vundofix could not repair a file and ran itself twice with a reboot after both times and the secondd time it seems to have got it...
when i rebooted the last time I got an error message that julyioyo.dll couldnt be found...i said ok and it seems to be fine...so far.
here are the logs...

Panda online scan is a beauty - i do not understand why you could not find it, cos there are two links to it on that homepage: one is " free Online virus scan" just above the padlock pic, the other is a huge blue link "Scan your PC now" . Please do it, but run the attribune temp file cleaner first. The scan only runs in Internet Explorer.... but it's one of the best...
You didn include the scan log from AVG antispyware....
After the pandascan [pls do it...], run HT "Scan Only" and put checks against the following:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {2C48C717-8A2D-487C-A068-C65CB0D17D04} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awvtq.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {57E218E6-5A80-4f0c-AB25-83598F25D7E9} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\fvjhikqx.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SoundService] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\julyioyo.dll",setvm

and then Fix them.
[that last entry is a registry entry asking the OS to run julyioyo.dll with parameter setvm, but it aint there to run. I hope.. :) Remember the error msg at startup saying it could not be found?]

===Finally: Java update!!! This is for security reasons. Go control panel > java > update, & press update now. Restart after installing the update, and then go into control panel again, add/remove pgms and remove all old versions of java. Vsn 1.5.0.11 is current....

Post the logs....

i dunno why you had trouble with those links..they both work for me still. The killbox one is still valid, and whether pocketkillbox or just killbox you get the same exe - from subratam it is killbox, from third parties it is pocketkillbox. Beats me.
And the Panda link is fine... I wonder if you have some hidden problems... for the final HT scan when you post me a log first rename Hijackthis.exe to rabbit.exe and run it as that. I am possibly overdoing it, but go here and download this trial scan and run it: http://www.f-secure.com/blacklight/ -link is at foot of that page.
Just in case.

Gerbil, You rock!
I did run the panda scan and it worked great and then i closed the window by mistake and I cant find the txt file if there was one...I will run it again...

the only link I had a problem with was the killbox one. I cut and pasted it and it brought back an error screen, I did it again same result. then when I went to the subratam site and clicked on killbox...it said that killbox was now pocket killbox, etc etc...so I just assumed that was why the link did not work...maybe there was some other reason or something I did wrong.
In any case I got to it and it all worked. I havent been having any problems.

I am at work but when things lighten up I'll rescan and follow your latest instructions and post the scans.

Thanks so much for helping me out. :)

Interesting re killbox - you coulda just clicked the link in my post instead of a cutnpaste... but anyway. Re panda, anything with viruses will have been treated and will be lost now , and any spyware it detected should be fixable by AVG... so no problem there re repeating panda.
F-secure's blacklight came up clean? great. glad it all worked for you.
Cheers.
