Good outcome: removed the culprit with antivirus. A virus during that "Windows is starting up" phase commonly delays drivers and services, but removal alone can leave behind drivers, scheduled tasks, or damaged system files that keep causing slow boots. The advice from about checking hardware and from about cleanup points in the right directions — follow-up verification matters.
Practical post‑cleanup checklist:
Repair and hardware checks:
sfc /scannow (sfc documentation).chkdsk /f /r and check disk SMART health — a failing HDD will cause long hangs during the "starting up" phase.Prevention and next steps:
Keep antivirus and OS updates current, keep good backups or a disk image, and create a rescue USB so a future infection can be scanned offline. If unsure about removing entries found by Autoruns or Event Viewer, saving a system image first makes rollback safe.

Try updateing your BIOS on the motherboard.also i have had things like this happen when a adaptor like video or madem is starting to go bad.pull all PCI and AGP if you got AGP and use your onboard video if you not just leave the card in.then boot it up.
