I guess I worded myself wrong. What I meant was you guys are saying that the entire color scheme of the site seems to have changed when it's really just one page.
I have been really just commenting on the colors in general, something I see everyday and think about often. The site is (becoming) quite dynamic visually.:) Visual appeal may not precedence but it is in no way "trivial" as stated in a previous thread above.
Personally, I choose sites often based on colors, then layout-- content is always the most important factor, of course, and Daniweb posseses all three of these considerations.
I applaud what you are doing no matter my personal preferences, honestly. The work you are doing is complex and also requires a sense of design to pull it off sucessfully, something many website owner\hosts lack entirely. It can be brutal sometimes pulling it all together seamlessly.
I truly enjoy reading everyone's opinions and techie nitpicking  (as if they had a real say over it in the end); One thing in the career field we are all in that I have never seen in any other professional field to this extent is the level of know-it-all righteousness that is ever-pervasive. Thankfully most do not take it to the level that I witness on this site so often from some. My point is (and it has been said by others in this topic previously) what you are doing is working just fine …

Here's my 2 cents. I like the new lay-out but:
That's right and here I am. I like the old color-scheme a lot better. Why do all tech-relative websites have to be in grey and/or blue? I liked Daniweb for it's -different- colorscheme (the purple-yellow-peachy-blue one). It gave the site a positive feeling which is a good thing for a Community-website.
With the new colors (grey and grey) daniweb reminds me of my grey desk, my grey office, my grey monitor and (I'm living in Holland) the grey sky outside.
But I think I'll survive, atleast the purple is still here..The rest of the lay-out changes are excellent: bravo!

Did the lay-out changes make the site load faster or is it my imagination?

I like grey. I love grey! I only like grey skies, rain-- I wished I lived in Holland. (I have been to Holland and, actually, it was quite sunny the whole time.)
Anyway... I like grey\white or blue\white or grey\blue and-- I prefer cooler colors. Yet, I really do like the orange-yellow. It looks quite nice to my eyes. The "purple"? Undecided. That is a hard color to work with. I would suggest a nice, deep Aqua instead. Yes, more blue. :p:lol:
In any case, I like seeing what Dani is doing, taking the time to make adjustments and I am also happy to see how so many of us can talk about it, debate it, …
Green and Rice-- good stuff. I eat rice almost ever day sometimes -- it is a staple and so good for me. Real rice, rinsed and washed. We buy it in 20 lb sacks. It lasts forever.
I lived in Texas when I was going to school for software engineering a few years ago. Had a lot of Southern foods; a lot of greens, ham\pork, biscuits and gravy (which I love!), pecan pie, and chicken -fried-chicken with gravy on top. I did not like the environment of Texas so well but I love the Southern food especially the Black Soul food. Delicious, filling, and fattening. Lord knows I need to gain weight. ;)
I cook alot but my girlfriend cooks more often for me-- real Spanish food (not that Tex-Mex stuff that I cannot even stomach) She fattens me up with the plantains, rice, ribs, porkchops, guave pastries, bananas, soups, pasta, - you name it she cooks it. We eat a lot of Middle Eastern food too-- hummus, grapeleaves, pita bread. Anything curried, too. We also love to bake homemade bread-- there's nothing like that-- add some pancake mix to the flour, eggs, and yeast and you have some of the bread, warm bread EVER.
Cheers,
Matty D

Has there been any more consideration or Moderator discussion towards a seperate RoR forum on Daniweb?
I am going to run a test on the Quick Reply box. It is my hypothesis that moving the Quick Reply box will create a big surge in the number of posts. If it does, I will consider my test successful. If the average amount of postings per user stays relatively the same or drops, I will consider my test a failure and go back to the old way.
What do you mean by blog entries having a horizontal scroll??
On testing the Quick Reply box and its feasability: Do you have a way of directly monitoring how posts are made, say, via viewing logs or are you basing the results on a significant increase of overall posts? Just curious.
I have been using the Quick Reply box a lot in the last day, at least for short replies; I do not know if it is because of the format design\placement change of it on the page or if it is because it has been brought to my attention and high-lighted within the last 24-hours. Either way, I like it (and I like it how it is now in comparison to before placed beneath ads.
Thanks,
Matty
