I was able to download everything but when I tried to run reset teatimer it said this is an un-supported version and didnt run. Should I still try to run the new Hijack this

azriel 0 Light Poster

Ran a few scans and frequently had lots of minor issues so I decided to run a HIjack this and this is what it came up with, I was most concerned w/ the O10-O13.

Is it ok to just delete them? Thx guys

No, thats not it. I have the driver disk that came w/the printer and have installed, removed and re-installed that several times to no avail.

The comp won't even acknowledge the printer when it is plugged in when I attach the printer to the USB port. It does get acknowledged however when I plug it in to our newer laptop so the problem isn't the cable or the printer itself.

azriel 0 Light Poster

sorry, Dell 4550

azriel 0 Light Poster

OK so I re-formatted my Dell 4350 running Windows XP and it won't acknowledge my printer (an HP1210) plugged in to a USB port. I can't add it going about the usual means - I can install the printer disk info but its not acknowledging its even plugged in. If I go to Manage under my computer it shows a yellow question mark - I cannot automatically upload/find a driver (which I believe to be the main issue). I did try going to the Dell website and getting a new driver for this but that failed as well. Any ideas?

I have tried re-starting the printer, plugging it in on/off, tried changing the USB port to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

azriel 0 Light Poster

and is that worm a false positive and should i just delete it from spybot start up?

azriel 0 Light Poster

you have any idea what that O13 Gopher is?

azriel 0 Light Poster

Recently I posted about having issues w/my Vista laptop that wasn't recieving microsoft updates and Win Defender wasn't working - after lots of attemps I eventually reformated and installed Vista and original software and pretty quickly discovered in Spybot system startup a blank entry stating:
Current filename:

Database status: Not required - virus, spyware, malware or other resource hog
Value:
Filename: system32.exe

Description
Added by the _AGOBOT-KU_ WORM! Note - has a blank entry under the Startup Item/Name field

Source: Paul Collins Startup list

So I ran spybot and avg found some spyware and deleted it - not have this log. Please take a look and see if there is anything in there....Thanks!

Just got this comp about 2 months ago and having issues where Windows Defender refuses to boot up and I can't receive automatic or manually induced windows updates. When I try to kick off a manual update it tells me error code 80096001. If I try to start Defender it says application failed to initialize: 0x800106ba.

Can can I delete it and re-download it? Any suggestions?

Thx in advance.

-Az.

azriel 0 Light Poster

oh my gosh i am such a n00b. I'll re-post there...sorry

azriel 0 Light Poster

I'll check those out - I was always told if I was behind a router that a firewall was more optional than a necessity. What is your opinion on that?

Also if I install Comodo will I need to turn off Windows firewall?

How do those logs look - anything in there to explain why Windows defender cr@pped out n me and what is your feeling on that?

Thx for your help.

-D.

azriel 0 Light Poster

OK i have uninstalled Norton - it asked me after finishing if I wanted to have Windows firewall up - I stated yes b/c windows defender has been disabled by whatever is wrong with my comp.

Do i need it up if I have AVG/spybot/spywareblaster running? As after I put it up I seem to be much slower on the net esp. with downloading the info fr: Norton to finish un-installing it.

Thank you for your help.

-Az.

azriel 0 Light Poster

Since I got this problem I have been trying to turn off Norton b/c its only a 30day subscription anyways....but there doesn't seem to be an easy off button. Should I just turn it off in the start up area of spybot so on the next restart it doesn't come on?

-Az.

azriel 0 Light Poster

Suddenly in the past few days Microsoft defender AND Norton protection have started malfunctioning. Defender won't even initialize and Norton will run but not autoconnect to update. I have run AVG which found Obfustat.amz which after some research found to be a non-issue? I also ran AVG rootkit with no problems found. I also ran Spyboy with usual spyware which was deleted. But more things are happening now.... below is my hijack this log....pls help!

Thanks

File successfully shredded see attached smitfraud files (2) one presafe mode and other in safe mode plus HJT file. I also successfully ran a mcaffe scan (something I was not able to do with the rootkit and would cause a bluescreen) with no nasties.
HOWEVER combofix is saying it is missing vundonames.cf with no results.

Also shoudl be worth noting I am getting blue screens more often with different 'error areas' if thats the correct term stating the following

the frst was:
system32: xpdt.sys-address F77735A3 base at F7771000,date stamp 46532710

the second was usbstor.sys - address F9F1B222 base atF9F1A000, Datestamp 41107d6c

Thank you for responding.....

I deleted the Hijack item, and moved hijack this to my program files. Downloaded and installed this program from the link you suppled but was chock full of spyware and malware - my Mcaffe stopped three programs from loading - any other files you can suggest?

OK so I downloaded a few game files and all of a sudden got the dreaded BSOD. I do have several anti-virus/spyware etc progs (Spybot, McAffe, windows defender and spyware blocker) yet still am having this problem. I have tried running each of these in normal mode which again triggers the screen of death.

The technical information it lists as a problem is:
***STOP: 0x0000008E (0x0000005,0x006BF687,0xF65C5CF0,0x00000000

HELP pls, I have deleted suspected files of causing the problem....with no success - any help would be appreciated - THANKS!!!!
