if by height you mean distance, then you should use a [CODE]margin-top: 30%[/CODE] , or [CODE] position: absolute; top: 30%; left: 0 [/CODE] and dont forget to give a: [CODE]position: relative[/CODE] to the parent element

do you use floating elements for both divs? if yes, then you might forget about the clearing one.

thanks almostbob, and kipl20 remember when u're starting to design your website at 1024x768 resolution, there's always a space for the scrollbar on your browser, thus u have to contract the width to 1000 px.
