RedHat is evil....it's just another windows with loads of wizards and 1000000 services running by default plus not to mention the RPM hell. Be a man get getoo and learn how to configure config files :twisted:

I suggest Kylix, it's delphi based and u can code once and compile on both linux/windows.

If u're familiar with BSD u should run NetBSD on that. I can bet that NetBSD would outperform any linux distro on lowend machine

hmm...weird...U got ssh account but u don't know linux commands. I recommend asking a friend or so to setup it for u. Otherwise learn some basic linux commands and search good for eggdrop guides, there are like million of those

I suggest to use Gentoo coz Gentoo optimizes all created binaries for Ur CPU. You can also do manual tweaking of GCC flags. My main reason for switching from windows to linux in my workstation (I will always run BSD on servers) was the idea of tweaking. I love optimizing …

Get BSD man...it's the [b]only[/b] way to go with servers. If security is not an issue get FreeBSD. I promise you'll love it :) If u have low end computer (like pentium 100 or so) get NetBSD. NetBSD is more complex, but rox on lowends. BTW u should get FreeBSD …

use can istall apt-get for managing RPM (rpm still suck but....whatever) then u can use apt-get to install/remove/fetch rpms
