try disabling you norton antivirus auto protection ,there are a few things running there that don't need to be ,like Windows messanger ,loadqm.exe ,task schedular,real updater ,the epson printer ,tapisrv.exe , zone alarm is good but rescorce hog.

Have you checked your computer for this virus ,I had problems and error messages pertaining to svchost and when checked i had this virus, down load the removal tool,3/4 way down this page and run it, it will check for the virus and if found remove and then take you to microshaft for the critical update . http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.removal.tool.html
