I gather having thirty or more open windows slows the computer; but the only way I know to deal with this is to close them one at a time by "backing out " the way I got in; sort of one at a time. There must be a better way,huh?

maybe you picked up something and its running in the background ,get msconfig for win2000 in the link below , copy it o suggested folder and run ti from the run command in start and check what programs are running at start up and remove unnecessary ones

Thanks for your reply. Well at this point I'm really not sure, what i did was i downloaded all the drivers that were available for the make and model and for xp pro and just installed everything. Am pretty sure the driver was one of them as it said found network controller while i was installing and then asked me to install, which i tried to do and it straight away said driver not found. Have been able to get it online with ethernet cable and am currently trying to update the drivers that way, failing that am totally lost as to what to do next.

I just got internet on my windows xp and I'm trying to share a connection to my brothers computer and his computer is a windows 2000. We had interent on his comp for a little bit, but now we are not able to get it connect. I was hoping if you guys can help us to connect the two computers so we can both use the interent. it possible that your original dying psu, caused motherboard damage !

go to mycomputer ,right click on desired drive and chose properties ,then tools , error checking ,click on fix now check the empty boxes ,it should not prompt to restart computer ,if does just check off one option at a time

The only option I found in HijackThis was "delete on reboot" which did not work because the external HD is not immediately recognized on reboot.

To change my default viewer to "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer in Outlook is a good idea, but what is the path to do that. I can not find it. Help please.

not sure if it can be done just for outlook, im referring to windows default, that can be done in control panel, add and remove program .on the let or it may in the start menu

I don't use Live anything ,don't like it , so i open my attached picture with my default choice of windows picture and fax viewer !,maybe you need to change the default viewer to get it to work in outlook

nlite is not the same as making a image of your hdd after you install windows

I have a image of winxp and win98 ,someone made and grage to me ,illegal i know ,thats why i don't use them ,except as a test of a computer and then i format and load a legit windows copy !
they were created without the motherboard chipset drives ,and nic cards and modems installed ,i have never had a problem with installing the image on any different chipset,s old laptop or old computer i was testing windows on!

ok..I Downloaded this game(MCM2)... and there were no .exe files but there were these 3 files in the folder - MCM2.cdd,MCM2.img and MCM2.sub..

any reason why you didn't give us a little more info ,like ,what game and how you are trying to get it to run! did you install the game on you computer ,did you go to start ,all programs ,and see if it put a start icon there ,if there is no exe file then i don't see how it will run

its too bad you didn't have access to new psu / or psu tester just to try as, i do,it makes it all so much easier .

it is 2x2.6 ,but not really a total of 5.2 as each core works independently of each other , also make sure you have more than 1 ram chip as each core will perform better with its own stick of ram,or something like that .so 2 gig ram at least .2x1 gig for best results or even 2x2 =4 gig

Every time i see a cd drive cause a computer to reboot/shut down it was caused by a by a weak/bad power supply,add new power supply fixed it each time[3 times so far ]

no need to bumb! you need to try a better psu first ,
also just for shits and whistles and not to confuse, its a ATX power supply with a P4 plug ,AT power supplies go way back to the 486 and early pentium computers.
I have seen this happen a few times now ,nothing working when p4 plug ,plugged in ,and it was the motheboard in all cases

my laptop harddrive case has 2 usb plugs one for data one for power! i paid 25$ cdn for enclosure and picked up a 40gig hdd for free !

i use a 40 GIG LAPTOP DRIVE IN A usb EXTERNAL CASE all the time to carry files/programs ,and in my opinion are more reliable than my thumbdrive i have had over time!

hi,not sure of the cause ,but has nothing to do with the ntfs format you chose ,as that was the correct one to use!
you could add some more ram for sure ,but it should still be booting fast with the one gig .

if the drives were used before you don't need to create a partition just format the partition that is already there is good enough ,if the 3 drives you tried were all new ,maybe yes you would need to create a partition first

3 different disk all saying the disk may be corrupt !
maybe its refereeing to you windows disk being corrupt and not able to copy files ,maybe you could borrow a disk and try it
