I always thought C style strings were null terminated character arrays and not the same as C++ strings....;)

I probably will not be coming back here, which will be no big deal, it's not like I'm a big fish on this site. My participation or lack there-of will not be missed or even noticed.
Oh come on Kevin, how can you say that ? What do you think should be done to make each and every contributing core member feel special ?
I do agree there are not many Perl hackers around here, but that shouldn't give you the feeling that you are not wanted. I guess since you don't visit the Geek's Lounge, you are not accquanited with many people and vice versa.
Even though our paths never cross a lot, I hope even you have the same the desire to render help to people out there who desperately or badly need it.
Hope it made you feel better...

Yeah I guess there is some sort of problem with the notification system. I have suscribed for weekly notification but I receive instant notification always, which ends up cluttering my mailbox.
Anyone else having the same problems like me and Niek... ?
Careless, useless, self-centered girls aren't with me, REALLY ?

A good description of the problem would help you as well as the one anwering the question. What exact error does the compiler spit out ?
BTW, the variable dave is already a string variable, isn't it ? So why do you want to convert it to ANSI string again ?
Also ANSI string is the same name of the string standard class of C++ while the simple character style strings are called null terminated strings. I think you are getting confused here.
Post your relevant code with proper explanation for further help...
Careless, useless, self-centered GIRLS aren't with soldiers, obviously.

Oops! Did I just start a flame war  This isn't the place for it, so I won't respond any more.
Oh yes you just did start a flame war Mr. Mel (gotchya real name)
Oh man, just when I thought it was the right time to jump right in the fight, you people stop fighting. Not fair.
And now Blizard is working on a third release, supposed to come out this year I think.
Really ? Where did you read it....
The game sure rocks. Completed the game with a Necromancer. Ah..those times....*sigh*
Mr. Thomas, for you the only place I can think of is Google groups. The minimum of ads, the maximum of knowledgeable people, the maximum chance of learning something new, the opportunity to be among the majority of answerers etc.
The culture is changing, though. I think Daniweb is at a crucial moment, and I'm interested in seeing which way it goes.
I guess you already have drawn a conclusion by now based on the things which you have read here....
You can run but you can't hide, scythe of the grim reaper will follow you wherever you go.

Sounds good and should be done as soon as possible. You wouldn't want your baby to collect bad reputation, would you ?
I guess Miss Dani once said the IntelliTXT ads were only for the reputed sites like Intel, Microsoft etc. But I think things are changing rather fast here...
One thing we should not be responsible for while advertising is to misguide people. Miscrosoft, Intel are okay since they don't atleast swindle people. But with such ads ...

What happened then when you changed your own avatar? ;)
I guess anyone doesn't include him.....;)
As far as keeping the count on the number of times the match is found, just declare your variable as static and it should work out to be fine. (The static quantifier helps the variable in maintaining its state, in the scope in which the variable is declared)
What is the part which you don't understand about arrays ? Can you give a short eg on how you plan on using the arrays and what would they be storing ?
Eagerness is good but you can still take the problem as a challenge, solve it but atleast keep the solution to yourself till the OP shows some effort.
Just try to help someone out without just pasting out the source code and you would know how it comes out to be. Helping someone without pasting the code and helping them in getting the concepts right is a far better help rendered, methinks. Try it, you really will love it.
And btw, Mr. Salem is actually a good guy, so I guess you are off the hook... ;)

Looks good except for the way you have specified the file names -- don't use single quotes, use double quotes to specify C style null terminated strings.
bFailIfExists
[in] If this parameter is TRUEand the new file specified by lpNewFileName already exists, the function fails. If this parameter is FALSE and the new file already exists, the function overwrites the existing file and succeeds.
So don't you think you need to change the way the third parameter is being passed. It expects a boolean value not some other fancy stuff...
For an example look here.

No, it is not pure promotion. Players today are quite sophisticated in their tastes and the competion out there demands quality. Promotion, though, of course plays a vital role in the sucess or demise of any product, and in the end, this piece of software is a mere, plastik product that requires a powerful promotion system, internationally.
True, promotion plays a vital role in making or breaking a game, but do you think the people at EQ2 (Everquest 2) or even Vanguard promote less than those at WoW (World of Warcraft)...I guess no.
Nowadays what makes or breaks or games is that what the game has to offer to its players, what is the thing that the game hosts which is not present in the other peer games . Having a good balace of all the things is what nowadays makes a good game, methinks. Oh and btw the rating of WoW is 9.5 or something and the people of Gamespot are in no way influenced by advertising while deciding the rating...;)
As far as the classic games are concerned, we play them mostly because they are free or because we still have an old bone somewhere left in our body. No one would shell out(atleast me, can't say about everyone) $20 to play a game like pacman....
I guess thats because when you open your file the next time, you don't use the iostream flag append and thats the reason your previous contents get erased.
A file which already has contents when opened for writing needs to be opned in append mode for preserving the previous contents. More information and example here.
