I'm wondering, IBM is working on Synaptic Switches and they won't be programmed in Binary. Is it possible to jumpstart the architecture without having the technology at hand?,
Is it possible to program the majority of the work now, then when they got an functional prototype to make some finishing touches to complete the coding to get it fully functional?

Or is there just to many things there can go wrong when you don't understand how they will communicate?

Ada Lovelace wrote an algorithm to be processed by the Babbage Engine in the early 1800's, and the machine wasn't built until 1991.
