how to get the date from datetime inMS SQL

hi ,
i have a field in a table with the datatype as datetime.
i wrote a query to get that feild but the thing is i want only the date to be displayed, how can i do that,
currently the date and the time is being is displayed, how to i chase the query to only display the date only

i ma using MS SQL 2008. and C#.NET

Replace DateColumn with your actual date column

SELECT CAST(DateColumn AS DATE) AS DateOnly

Also, if you are interested in formatting the date, there are many ways to do this.
