Does anyone know how to fix the afxwin1.inl debug assertion error (I get it for line 22 of afxwin1.inl). Google gives me no help.

Actually, try clicking the 'Groups' heading at google. Like the image search.
Search the groups for MFC, and you'll be able to find a very active group that has a lot of gurus hanging around.
