excel in c#

hi...
can someone please explain how to create a new excel file using an excel template in c#
I have no idea how to go about doing it and that is why i haven't pasted any code....
i have been developing an application as part of my college project.....
and the last functionality i have to add is exporting to an excel file.....
i have a template for the excel file... and using that template i want to create a new excel file into which i have to insert the results.....
can you please guide me as to how to go about doing this or some book i have to refer...

i have been instructed to use the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel namespace... but i'm not able to understand much from the tutorials available on the internet.....

it does not explain how to create a new file using a template.....
it just explains how to create a new file.....
i need to create a new file which copies the template from an existing file.....
