I have just installed Coldfusion 5 and am trying to test some .cfm pages.
However, I always end up with a page that reads: "Application Server Error...".

Does anyone know how I can get this coldfusion server working.

Thanks,

GL

P.S. I'm a newb to coldfusion

Off-topic but why are you using coldfusion 5? I can't think of one good reason to use that version over cf8/railo express (excluding legacy maintenance/updates of course).

Its just the version that I have.
Would it be beneficial to upgrade?

Very much so. I personally develop with railo express 3.0, which is free (and superior in many ways to cf8 in my opinion). You could also use coldfusion 8 running as its own server, which is another free one. Just look for the option for developer edition or something like that. Either would be far superior to coldfusion 5. I personally have never worked with anything below coldfusion 6.1.

By the way, if you are looking for an editor for your coldfusion code, I suggest eclipse with the cfeclipse package installed.
