I am having the same problem, I'm using aspnet.mdf (auto-generated by asp.net) any help would be great! thanks in advance!

Each person can only be in one role that is within the aspnet.mdf generated membership. If the person has more than one role, the page will refresh but you will remain on the same login page. To solve, set up a role that is called superadmin and superadmin has access to everything; set up within the web admin/role manager area. Could this be your problem?
