well for starters you could READ A BIT about both :angry:

then come here and ask a lesser wildy general question

or you can just do this

put all your logic from the service or doPost/doGet methods into a scriptlet
all your declarations of variables and references in the declaration part of jsp :

<%! declaration goes here %>
