The name "dropdownlistcategory" does not exist in the given context

i have a webpage where i have used master page and inherited code behind file of the webpage
when i use the code in codebehind file to databind the dropdownlist to database values i get the following error
The name "DropdownlistCategory" does not exist in the given context
i tried browsing but didnt find any solution
i have three dropdownlist like
dropdowncategory,dropdownevents,dropdownproducts
each is referenced with one another like
if i select category the events related to category are listed
and if i select events in turn the products related to events are listed
i tried the same code in another application
it works fine there
but i dont know why its throwing an error in this application alone
anybody plz help me on this regard
