Re: Is the Vision Pro worth it? Hardware and Software macOS by Shahryar Khan This time not. Coz its a new technology, it is in testing phase, maybe you find huge, Bugs in software, and alot of issues, problem and compatibility with hardwoare and OS. I think we should wait for final released. Is the Vision Pro worth it? Hardware and Software macOS by Dani Is the Apple Vision Pro worth it if I already have an Oculus Quest? I'm not a big gamer, but I have my entire wedding recorded in VR, and I love watching mini-movies and shows in 3D VR. My husband is into things like Red Matter. I honestly don't remember if I have a Quest 2 or 3. Re: Is the Vision Pro worth it? Hardware and Software macOS by Reverend Jim You probably have a Quest 2. My younger son and I really enjoyed Red Matter 2. My goto game is In Death Unchained but I still do a little Beat Saber now and then. I used to use BigScreen to watch movies but now I find the Oculus TV app better as I can easily change the viewing angle, and the warped/wrapped screen is a plus. I can't imagine the … Re: Is the Vision Pro worth it? Hardware and Software macOS by Dani Oddly, you are required to go through an hour long tutorial/demo at the Apple Store before they will sell you a Vision Pro. I haven’t had the patience as of yet. Need a small footprint desktop with decent power Hardware and Software by wolfyshoo Hey everyone, My current desktop tower is getting old and frankly, it's huge and noisy. I'm looking to replace it with something much more compact that can still handle my workflow, which is mainly web development (multiple browser tabs, code editor, local server), some graphic design work (Figma, Affinity Designer), and occasionally light 1080p … Re: Is the Vision Pro worth it? Hardware and Software macOS by rproffitt One of my sons spent a lot setting up some other VR gear. And then broke his TV playing a game (punched the TV). 3 years later it sits in a box because it's out of date and new models that are worth buying are not worth buying (not going to rewrite that.) For me, not worth it. Re: Is the Vision Pro worth it? Hardware and Software macOS by Dani > some other VR gear Was it not a Quest *or* Vision Pro? I didn’t realize there were any other quality VR headsets on the market. Also, make sure to always play with plenty of space around you. I can’t speak for the Vision Pro, but the Quest is very good at immediately letting you know if you or your arms are approaching out of the gaming… Re: Is the Vision Pro worth it? Hardware and Software macOS by Reverend Jim I usually put a square tile in the middle of the floor to stand on when playing Beat Saber. Eleven Table Tennis doesn't need it because I orient myself to the VR table. I play In Death Unchained seated because there are too many vertigo-inducing places in the middle world where I could easily fall over. Some of them make my feet tingle. Re: Is the Vision Pro worth it? Hardware and Software macOS by Dani I find it vertigo-inducing to be sitting!! I simply cannot handle when what I see simulates me moving (e.g. walking in a room), but my physical body is not moving. It's fine if things are moving around me, but if *I'm* meant to be walking, I need to be physically walking in order to not get sick. Re: Is the Vision Pro worth it? Hardware and Software macOS by Reverend Jim I still get vertigo at times when sitting (like jumping and landing on the edge of a cliff) but at least I can't fall down and crack my head. Re: 💻 What’s the First App You Install on a Fresh Windows Machine? Hardware and Software Microsoft Windows by Dani > >Siri is an abomination > > Is it? I've never so much as touched an Apple computer so I have no opinion on that whatsoever. Oh, yes. That's well known. Apple should be embarrassed. In fact, they recently fired the head of the Siri team. https://techcrunch.com/2025/03/20/apple-puts-vision-pro-exec-in-charge-of-siri-in-exec-… Re: How to make an Iphone App? Programming Mobile Development by jonathannweyer One thing to keep in mind when planning an iOS app is the hardware and software constraints specific to Apple’s ecosystem, like limited background tasking or stricter App Store guidelines. Picking the right programming language, whether it's Swift or Objective-C, really depends on your team's experience and long-term plans. Also, if you're building… Re: 💻 What’s the First App You Install on a Fresh Windows Machine? Hardware and Software Microsoft Windows by Dani > BTW I've spoken with a former Microsoft Engineer. He also agrees OneDrive is an abomination. I’ve spoken to several current and former Apple engineers who agree that Siri is an abomination. Hardware and Software Linux and Unix by Ulfson > Linux has come a long way, but it's still primarily a server OS, correct? How many of you linux fanboys and girls use it as your primary operating system for daily tasks? I've been a Mac user for 30 years or so, as I like the hardware Apple makes. And macOS has a Unix command line, which I rely on heavily - getting the best of both … Re: Is linux your daily driver? Hardware and Software Linux and Unix by trcooke While I was at university 20 years ago one of my course friends regularly extolled the virtues of Linux. He was a big fan of Gentoo which I never really got into, he like fiddling with the configuration and I liked a working system, two characteristics that rarely overlapped for me except for rare moments. But, I was sold on Linux in general and… Re: Is linux your daily driver? Hardware and Software Linux and Unix by trcooke Maybe a wee bit older than you Dani, I was 26 or 27 doing a Masters degree when I met my Linux loving friend. I'm 46 now. I have had Macs but it annoys me that they get obsoleted by software long before the hardware runs out. My wife has a MacBook Air and it's great because it's zero effort to maintain but the cost is replacing it even when it's… Re: Attn Publishers: Do you block AI bots? Digital Media by Dani We use Cloudflare, which I'm not sure if you use or are familiar with, but they have a feature called AI audit that analyzes AI crawlers. For example, I can see how many requests were made by Amazon Alexa's bot, ChatGPT's bot, Apple Siri's bot, etc. You can block any one or many of these crawlers by specifying their name in your robots.txt file.… Re: Need a small footprint desktop with decent power Hardware and Software by Dani Not too long ago, I ditched a suuuuuper expensive ~10 year old Dell Precision workstation with like 64 cores or something crazy, multiple video cards, dedicated RAID controller, etc. for a much less expensive M1 Max Macbook Pro. The macbook outperformed the Dell for everything I did by far. Re: Need a small footprint desktop with decent power Hardware and Software by trcooke I'm a developer too and 14 years ago I bought an entry level MacBook Air and honestly it was probably the best laptop I've ever bought and I used it for development for years and years. It used to creak a bit if I ran more than one instance of IntelliJ, but other than that it took everything I threw at it. I have since replaced my own laptop, but … Five Reasons You Would Want an Apple Tablet Community Center Geeks' Lounge by Techwriter10 The whispers have been getting louder lately that Apple will be be announcing the long-rumored Tablet next month at its September keynote. Existing iphone apps just wouldn't look or work right on the phone unless they used an aspect ratio approach to grow the size of the app gui to the correct dimension, which would just look awkward. A more likely approach would be to have an iphone … Re: Five Reasons You Would Want an Apple Tablet Community Center Geeks' Lounge by Techwriter10 I have the feeling if this Tablet comes out next month, and who knows if it really will, Apple will have solved these problems.
