Today I just put a new SSD in my desktop. I did have a little trouble booting up the OS because I had plugged the DVI into the wrong port, when I couldn't see the monitor I did end up turning off the computer several times before I finally found the problem. I don't know if the problem occured when I was physicaly in the box or during boot when I turned it back off several times but now my system will not boot. The grub screen does display but after selecting the Linux Mint option it goes to a …

Hi I'm new to Linux and it's great! I seen you on the Linux forums Rubberman, really weird though as I only stumbled upon it so I can find my two old friends. Cat1092 an NickAU from BleepingComputer. I don't know if they'd use any other forums, but looks like my journey looking for them is about to be finished and given up :( What a drag... Anyway you can all find me in HexChat on Mint 17.2. By the Jedi Masters name myLinux.

I have recently installed LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition) onto my laptop but I can't isntall anything because it can't find the sources. I'm assuming I need to edit the /etc/apt/sources.list file but I'm not sure. And if so I don't know in what way I should edit the file.

I installed Linux Mint 14 alongside Win7 using [this](http://www.linuxbsdos.com/2012/06/06/how-to-dual-boot-linux-mint-13-cinnamonmate-and-windows-7/) tutorial. When I choose Mint in the boot menu, it doesn't boot into Linux. Instead, I get a GRUB4DOS command line. It says something like this: GRUB4DOS 0.4.5b 2011-11-27, Mem: 630K/3177M/766M, End: 35560D [ Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists the possible completions of a device/filename. ] grub> How do I fix this while leaving windows bootloader as default ?

I came across [this](http://www.daniweb.com/software-development/cpp/threads/189901/screen-capture-program) program in the C++ section. How to do something similar in C? Let me elaborate. I want to read the colour values of individual pixels in at the rate of at least about 25Hz. I have a nVidia GeForce GTS450 graphic card and Windows 7 64-bit/Linux Mint 13 64-bit dual booting. I want to write a C program which would perform the said task and pass the values continuously to an Arduino through the USB. I can handle the Arduino part. But how do I get the values in the first place? I know Windows 7 …

There are three Linux distributions that didn't make it into my top 10 list of best Linux distributions but they are ones to watch. These three distributions are all aimed at the Desktop, are simple to install and use, and they're free. Linux Mint, gOS, and OpenSuSE are the three distros (distributions) to watch. (I reviewed 2 (gOS & Linux Mint) of these 3 in a Linux Magazine article, "Spawn of Ubuntu.") Linux Mint - From Freedom Came Elegance - The tagline for this distribution holds true--Linux Mint is an elegant twist on its Ubuntu parent.
