If you take one look at the deadmau5 portable speakers from KitSound and immediately think that they have been inspired, somewhat badly, by Mickey Mouse then I'm afraid you are showing your age and lack of cool. If, on the other hand, you are some hip young thing then you will instantly recognise the hand, or should I say the head, of deadmau5. ![deadmau51](/attachments/small/0/deadmau51.jpg "align-right") The Canadian DJ and producer known as [deadmau5](http://www.deadmau5.com/), real name Joel Thomas Zimmerman, might be based in Toronto but he has earned a global reputation in the music business, not least courtesy of his habit …

I am looking for a developer who has experience with audio/video so we can start a very exciting project that combines music and technology. There is no money involved at this early stage, but together we'll build it up, find the necessary financial resources to get it started, and later we'll share the money :). Let me know if you are interested, thank you!

Hello, I want to ask if there is any way to play an mp3 file in C# without the use of P/Invoke or winmp dll and the like. I can use external libraries too. It would also be nice if I could "include" the mp3 in the C# project, as I will only be playing one sound, and the user is unable to choose.

I opened iTunes and all my music was gone, opened iPhoto and all my photos were gone, the files are still on the computer but I can't open them. I quit using Windows last year, except occassionally (XP). My hobbies and love is music (playing jazz guitar and using editing software, my favorite programs being Ardour and Audacity) and photography (favorite programs are Darktable, Gimp and Shotwell), using the Linux distros, Ubuntu and Lubuntu, which I am happy with. Any room for me in these forums? ~Leo

Hello Everyone- My question is about my laptop that I use with a wireless router. The laptop has Vista 32 and service pack 1--I am currently still trying to get service pack 2 to download but that is a work in progress. The problem is any music that i download, play or anything will skip while using WMP, Itunes and any other music playing device. It doesnt constantly skip but it does about every 30 seconds of a song--which drives me crazy!!! The kicker is if i put the music on a flshdrive and play it upstairs on my computer …

Hello, I am trying to upload music files to a database for use on my website. However, the file doesn't seem to actually be going into the folder. I get the name of the file in phpmyadmin, but I don't see the file anywhere. Here's my script (I do have a directory in the database named music, so that doesn't seem to be the problem): <?php include "db_connect.php"; $tbl_name = "music"; $title = $_REQUEST['title']; $type = $_REQUEST['type']; $musicuploaddir = "music/"; $song = $musicuploaddir . basename($_FILES['song']['name']); mysql_query("INSERT INTO $tbl_name (id, song, title, type) VALUES ('', '$song', '$title', '$type')"); $entrynumber = mysql_insert_id(); …

I'm working on a music player and I want to make it so that if I'm playing a song and I click on another song in the list the first song stops before I hit play on the second one, without having to manually stop the first. So just the act of clicking on another song will stop a currently playing song. The following is the code I have so far (I've left out the code for the GUI, just the relevant classes). [ICODE]public class Player { private PlayList playList; private Track track; private int tracksPlayed; private int totalTrackTime; private …

I know that Apple has been expending a lot of hot air telling anyone who will listen that the new iTunes pricing regime is a good thing for consumers. I know that it reckons that for every song which is ramped up to the new 99p (here in the UK) price it will drop another 10 songs down to the 59p bottom dollar pricing. Trouble is, I also know that music download market runner-up Amazon has taken advantage of consumer confusion surrounding the price changes by jumping in with 100+ songs going for just 29p a pop. Importantly, Amazon has …

Alright, I'm at it again, trying another version of my game. Sorry, it's been a while since I've been here and while I tried checking to see if anyone else had asked about this, I didn't see anything that was to the point. I'm trying to play an mp3 or wav file by simply mousing over a label, thus using the below:
Private Sub Label1_MouseMove(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single)
But I'm confused as to how to what I play this with. I don't want a player, just a song to play. I'd like …

So here's the thing, it is now some 10 years since the first iPod was launched and the way we listen to music changed forever. One of the things that changed, if you are anything like me, is that your iTunes database became the centre of your musical life. Unfortunately, across those 10 years that database can get kind of dirty. A quick look at my iTunes database reveals a whole bunch of tracks with no album artwork, which is no big deal I grant you, but also a whole bunch of songs with spelling mistakes or where the import …

Music sharing with Facebook friends just became easier, and if that isn't enough to distract you, how about a game of Internet pinball? Two manufacturers are banking that these innovations will keep Facebook users entertained 24/7. Facebook users that subscribe to Thumbplay Music's desktop app can combine it with iTunes Auto-Sync, and automatically import their iTunes playlists when signing into their accounts. Music is streamed by right-clicking "Share" on Thumbplay Music's desktop app. Music can be shared with specific friends or everyone on the user's Facebook network Music sharing for Twitter users is also in the works. What Thumbplay Music's …

Greetings, I am attempting to paste a javascript music player into my site from the developers at cashmusic.org. The music player displays and plays files correctly in the 'live view' display in Dreamweaver, but will not display at all in browser preview (Chrome & Safari). I have brought up Chrome's javascript console on the page and it displays the javascript as working correctly. I have never had problems running javascript from any other site, which leads me to believe it is in my code. I am not versed in javascript and have not attempted to examine the actual coding which …

All the news and social media feeds seem to have overdosed on one story this week: will The Beatles be on iTunes after the big Apple 'Rock and Roll' event today? News at eleven: I don't give a stuff, and here's my top ten reasons why.

Most people would rather have an iPod with a camera than an iPod with The Beatles.
Reality check: the only people who are really getting their knickers in a knot over the possibility of Beatles music on iTunes, unfortunately, would be we the media.
The Beatles are not, and I'm really sorry to …

The British website for pop sensation Lady Gaga has been hacked, it's official. The website was targeted by the US SwagSec hacking group it would appear, a group which has a track record (if you'll excuse the pun) of hacking the official websites of pop stars having already hit Justin Bieber and Amy Winehouse to name but two. Universal Music has now confirmed that part of a database was copied and the names and email address records of Lady Gaga fans accessed. The record label was at pains to point out that no passwords or credit card data was stolen. …

After reviewing the Aurora laptop speaker system from the same manufacturer, and actually being very impressed with pretty much everything about it, I was rather looking forward to getting my hands on the Sound to Go portable speaker. Unfortunately my enthusiasm was somewhat short lived as the two devices really do not compare well with each other. Whereas the sound from the Aurora was surprisingly good; well-rounded and dynamic with more than enough 'oomph' for the average user and certainly a huge advance in quality from the average laptop speakers, the Sound to Go was just OK. Hello everybody, I am looking for a good C++ midi API. I have written a program in C++ that needs to be able to export MIDI. So far I had written my own export function, but I feel that the complexities of low level midi coding will become to great for future more complicated (polyphonic, rythm changes, etc) music. So I am looking for a good C++ midi api. Ideally, I am looking for the following features: - eport to a midi file - import/play a midi file (optional) - export/view score (pref pdf), or even better, editable (but I …

Teen pop sensation Justin Bieber has already conquered Twitter, and now it would appear he has become the undisputed King of YouTube after knocking Lady Gaga off of the 'most viewed video ever' spot. According to a posting on Twitter by YouTube, Bieber first overtook Lady Gaga on Thursday night but was soon beaten down again as Gaga fans viewed the Bad Romance video by the thousand. However, within 48 hours the inevitable weight of Bieber fans has taken its toll and the Baby video has now pulled well clear with 247,991,181 views compared to 'just' 246,609,606 views for Lady …
