A while ago I had a file on my windows desktop with a lot of my email accounts that I use for very specific purposes like online forums or shopping, and each one's password. I don't know what on earth has happened but I can't find that file anywhere. I did a whole "\*.txt" search on the C: but I still didn't find it and I don't remember ever deleting it. What's a good program I could use to recover files and specifcally .txt files? Thanks.

So you've lost access to your data through hardware failure or accidental erasure. What do you do? Like most cyber-warriors you naturally turn to the Internet, be that via a Google search or YouTube video, for help. That's a big mistake says [Kroll Ontrack](https://www.krollontrack.co.uk/blog/), a data recovery specialist, as self-inflicted permanent data loss is apparently on the up. Of course, there's going to be a certain amount of MRDA in this assertion. That's Mandy Rice-Davies Applies, or 'well he would say that, wouldn't he?' in case you wondered. As [Wikipedia says](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MRDA), referencing an article of mine in the further reading …

Hi folks. I use Win 7 on my desktop. I have a 1TB HDD that I partitioned so I could boot from C: drive and then store data on the larger "partition" D: drive, a common practice. Well I bought a SSD to install as a boot drive and loaded a fresh copy of Windows. Now I intended to delete the old C: drive from the HDD and use the entire HDD as my storage. Ok, so I tried to re-alocate the space, but I did something back-asswards and deleted my storage. Now as soon as I seen I screwed …

According to research from data recovery specialists Kroll Ontrack, some three quarters of those workers that had lost data on a broken device didn't attempt to ensure that information was irretrievable before disposing of the hardware. ![dwebdatarip](/attachments/large/0/dwebdatarip.jpg "dwebdatarip") It doesn't matter whether the hardware itself is a PC or laptop, removable drive, tablet or smartphone, the ugly truth remains that most people simply assume that if the device is dead then the data has died along with it. Actually, data lost through software corruption or hardware failure is more often than not recoverable - at least partially. The study revealed …

Is it possible to run to run photorec such a way not to recover all photos on a drive just those with specific EXIF data? If photorec cannot solve this request itself, is it possible to do this with a script which can filter the results online?

When I use a combination of buttons (the only one that seems to work is power and volume+) to access recovery mode, I don't see the expected android on its back with exclamation mark. Instead, the android stands up (with a spinning logo at the front) and although it says the tablet has entered recovery mode, it proceeds to a normal boot. This then leads back to my original problem: all functions useless due to "system uids inconsistent". Can anyone please help?

I am on travel and was advised my Win Vista machine had supposedly been infected with the 'interpol' virus approximately one month ago. A family member noticed some odd behavior and took the PC to an 'in-store' tech center for a diagnostic. This center stated the machine was infected and made some general comments about resetting default setting but did not specify any changes they may or may not have applied. Btw, this same place was all too eager to have this machine sent off to their repair facility for a hefty fee so they could further assess the situation. …

Hello everyone, I would like to use HP's system recovery (F11 on boot menu, not the windows application) to revert my laptop to its factory state. The thing is that i have created a disk partition to keep my data which wasn't present by default. Will the recovery delete my partition or will it simply re-install windows on system (C:\) partition? (Laptop model is HP compaq 6730s) Thanks in advance!

Hello all, I have important files on my flash drive, and now i have discovered it is broken. I dont know what has caused it, and on none of the machines i've tested, did it show up at all. I'm guessing this means that the usb part of the device isnt connected to the chip of the device? I really need urgent help, i have a deadline of tomorrow for this stuff.. Thanks in advance

Someone brought an old floppy disk into the shop that's apparently unreadable. (It's not a mac disk) So far I've found several shareware/demos that don't allow saving of the file. I guess if client's willing to pay, we could buy one, but we only have one machine that even has a floppy drive and I doubt we're going to have ANY call for it in the future.... One or two actual freeware programs failed to find anything; one demo-ware program CLAIMED to find a file but it didn't have the filename I was expecting... Does anyone know of a free …

I have a Toshiba Sattelite Pro 660, when I switch it on I had a black screen with only the Toshiba on screen. I couldn't start the Recovery Mode it frooze too. After checking in on the Boot Menue to change to boot from CD it came up with this error: Operating System not found. I've tried a well established Boot disc, but even that freezes before the Repair tool comes on. Any ideas?

Recently while watching a show online in bed my laptop decided that it had enough of this world and threw itself off the nightstand. Upon trying to turn the laptop back on after a few minutes I get the error of either some wires came unblocked or faulty hardware and it can't boot up. My thought is that I've killed my hard drive and lost everything I had on it. However to test this theory I removed the hard drive and stuck it in my external hot swap and the drive shows up with my main partition as well as …

hello everyone, I own one laptop repair shop in Brugnera and recently I got many dead hard drives from Italy, especially Seagate and Western Digital, none of them are detected in the PC. I have over 200 hard disks each month asking for repair and data recovery. I am therefore decided to buy some good data recovery hardware to repair these dead hard drives. I searched long and find in my city one company who is providing those stuff. The company is one reseller of SalvationDATA technology and they suggested to buy three tools: HD HPE PRO, HD doctor suite …

1. Stop writing any data to memory card anymore 2. Recover lost data in time 3. Choose data recovery software with pertinence. Watch out when performing memory card data recovery operations 4. Back up original data in advance if it is allowed. These four points are good for guaranteeing perfect memory card data recovery

As many of you are probably aware, DaniWeb was hit hard by Google's Panda algorithm update back in February. A news story written by Davey entitled Google Farmer Update: what went wrong? explained that the February 24th Panda algorithm targeted at content farms literally cut DaniWeb's US traffic by half. The global rollout that followed a month later did the same to all of our English-speaking traffic. On March 3rd, I started a forum thread in Google's Webmaster Central forum as a plea of desperation. A couple hundred responses explained in detail all of the different things that I've done …
