Hi Friends, Upon a recommendation I have installed Advanced System Care 93. It seems to be doing what it claims. I have not yet paid anything to upgrade but wonder if this is just another 'cash cow'? Anyone got any advice on ASC 93 please?

Hi guys, something a little strange has happened. While I browsed to google.co.uk home page I've seen a message flashing on the top left of the screen, it flashed literally for about half a second and after ctrl+f5 numerous times I managed to get a screenshot and it says "Online Security this site has no rating". I saw that message in windows chrome, I'm logged in, I haven't checked in Ubuntu, but it is definitely the first time I saw it. I'm running a scan with malaware byte just in case, and a google search for that hasn't really revealed …

Chinese computer manufacturer [Lenovo has admitted](http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/product_security/superfish) that it installed an adware component called Superfish on 16 million PCs shipped between September 2014 and February 2015 in order to "help customers potentially discover interesting products while shopping" according to an official statement made by the company. Although there is some argument to be had as to the validity of the 'helping customers' idea regarding software which injects third party adverts into Google searches and websites without the explicit permission or knowledge of the user, where there is no debate to be had at all is in the bloody great security hole …

Hi all, I was at a customers site today, and had a real interesting one. He had a browser hijacker/Malware/Virus that had been detected by Avast (or one of the three of four other AV softwares that he had installed and uninstalled in the past weeks). It was presenting annoying advert pop-ups and unwanted extra windows randomly appearing - some looked convincingly like Adobe upates etc. It is called "ZequitaeKryoniece". No results on Google Search or others for info on the software, No results on the offending PC with a windows search (including Hidden Folders). No results when running Junkware …

Spambot has taken hold of my computer and is sending out emails to my clients, friends and family. If someone could help me get this off of my computer, I would appreciate it. I do need the information in laymen's terms, I'm so not IT (but I learn quickly).

I have an interesting browser hijacker that randomly redirects me whenever I click a search link, and recently even if I paste a direct url into the address bar it will redirect. I've been away from this field for a bit and am a little rusty, but I have ran the usual (AVG, Malwarebytes, Hijackthis, combofix, Security Essentials) all separately of course. To no avail though. Any input on this topic would be welcome. When it redirects it has an IPs in the address bar, or things like livesearchnow... > see link as example->http://8.26.70.252/see/display.php?q=fish&affsub=46938-a25440&subid=e10 Any help is welcome. Hi! I've just realised a weird behaviour regarding Windows Defender in my laptop. Whenever I open (run) it, either by prompting to run a scan or just to open the GUI, it always closes itself immediately (even before it finishes scanning my computer if I open it to scan my computer, i.e. I cannot do a thing with it closing in less than 2 seconds). This weird behaviour stops for just once before I restarted my laptop but then it reappears. Strangely to me, this issue doesn't come up if I run Windows Defender as Administrator (it ran just normally …

Background: I had one of my users bring in a home PC that they said has been "very slow" and has additional pop ups etc. They had installed a bunch of products to try and fix it (SpyBot, AVG etc) but could no longer get to the internet. So I took a look and it seems clean now (they have AVG Free 2012 and MS Security Essentials as AV, both show nothing in full deep scans, spybot and Malwarebytes came up clean). The internet connection you plug in and it just sits at "Unidentified Network - Access: Local Only". It …

Dear community, On a quite regular basis, the screen of one of the laptops I use blinks for a fraction of a second. It does it like with some screen capture softwares when they are triggered. Besides, I'm observing from time to time some strange behaviour: Command windows that open and close in a fraction of a second, multiple hidden folders named like "ZZZ_ZZ_ZZZZZ_ZZ_ZZZ...." that appear and disappear on the root disk... Note that I frequently activate Team Viewer to allow some colleagues to have some distant access, but always under my control (I'm blocking "unattended access option"). Also, the …

I use firefox and haven't used IE since I got my computer and downloaded Firefox on to it. Lately IE has been randomly opening multiple windows with multiple tabs in them. I've run Malwarebytes twice and it hasn't come up with anything and I even put my computer in safe mode and ran it and still nothing. Also, an error message keeps popping up that says something about the host process not working, but I don't know if that has anything to do with the issue.

Help Please! every time i click on a google link for any search using Internet Explorer or Google Chrome, I am redirected to a different page, usually an ad. I have McAfee installed and activated and it removed 1 trojan a few weeks ago, but has picked up nothing since, and I perform a FULL sweep daily. I also installed Ad-Aware, and Malwarebytes, both of which have removed 20+ infected files/items, yet none have changed this dumb redirecting of links. I ran hijackthis and here is my log file: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.4 Scan saved at 8:08:04 PM, …

Ladies and Gents, I would appreciate your help solving a problem with an XP laptop I have been asked to clean up. It was riddled with Malware and Spyware including various fake scanners asking the user to upgrade to pro. I have been running malwarebytes and avg 2011 on it, which has shifted all but the redirect issue. I have followed the instructions on posting and have the various scan logs to show you. I was not able to download one of them as the bleepingcomputer website where the file is located is down. I would be very grateful for …

For the life of me, I can't find the service or program that keeps installing itself after deletion from Windows XP (Pro, w/ svc pack 3) registry... Does anyone here know of software called "Rabia" (that's the local machine key), with 2 sub-keys, "CodV4Q==", and "DYNV4Q==" containing binary data? My virus/trojan/spybot detectors have found nothing, so I'm stumped. After deletion, these entries appear immediately after a re-boot. Thanks for your help. Don in Oakland

Hello Yesterday I downloaded this: Infected Executable File Removed. My Panda antivirus didn't see anything wrong with it, but it is some sort of spyware or trojan. Since I ran it last night, my IE opens up sometimes with an IQ test page '=) Today I ran a quick scan with Windows Defender and it found a Win32/Renos.MQ (more info here -> http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Threat/Encyclopedia/Entry.aspx?name=TrojanDownloader:Win32/Renos.MQ&threatid=152583) It gave me the option to remove it, so I did. It took several minutes... And, how lovely, while it was doing it, my antivirus said "Virus neutralized!" and when I checked it, xxxxxxxx which was INSIDE …

Hi, A couple of weeks ago I had a bad virus on my computer (Anti-Vir 2010 suite or something like that). I ran all the scans out there, and thought i had removed it. But then, my websites and google searches kept getting redirected to other websites. That was the only indication that there was still an infection on my computer. Avast, AVG, Ad-aware, MBAM were all super clean, no infections found. So I recently also downloaded Avira, AntiSuperSpyware, and Spy-Bot search and destroy, and they all found a lot of infections and removed them. But the problem still persists. …
