I have been running SPybot and Adaware, but have some spyware that keeps returning. Spybot was unable to remove Clever IE Hooker. Here is my hijack this log:

that is all i found maybe under closer scrutiny someone will find something better.

after deleting that try rescanning with your browser windows closed you had IE running.

Hi. First of all you need to update hijackthis to version 1.98.2. Run hijackthis & go to *Config\Misc Tools\Check for update on-line*. If the site is down, go here. Remove the old version by opening the program, going to config\misc tools, then uninstall & exit. You then have to delete the file manually. Unzip the new version into the hijackthis folder.

Download LSPfix from here
On the opening screen, click the "I know what I'm doing" checkbox. Check all instances of "lspak.dll" (and nothing else), and move them to the "Remove" pane. Then click Finish.

Open Task Manager & end process on the following:
jawa32.exe
goidr.exe

Delete those files manually.
C:\WINDOWS\jawa32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\goidr.exe

Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked':

Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here & navigate to & delete the following if found:

C:\Program Files\Web_Rebates-folder

Reboot normally.

Download the Hoster from here. Press "Restore Original Hosts" and press "OK". Exit Program.

download the VX cleaner plug in for Adaware. Install it, then open Adaware & go to *add-ons* & run the plug-in. If anything is found, select *clean system* & when done, reboot & run Adaware & let it finish the clean-up. Reboot again.

Go here to TrendMicro for an on-line scan & set it to autoclean for you.

Try this scan at Panda as well.

I got through all the steps, except for the download of adaware x2 cleaner. When I go to plug-ins in Ad Aware (V 6 build 6.181) I only see one entry which says "bad entrypoint".

You may want to download Adaware SE. That plug-in supposedly works with 181 though?
Open Task Manager & end process on the following:
cvss.exe
Then go to C:\WINDOWS\System32 & delete the file manually.

Reboot & post another log lease.

Did the virus scans find much?

I updated to AdAware Personal SE and that found a LOT of stuff that my other wasn't. CVSS.exe wasn't there any longer, so perhaps that was one of the things the AdAware caught. The online scans found a few things, nothing major. So, after that, here is my HiJack This log again. (you can see the Panda Scan info in there now).

A few other notes, however. Whenever I run Spybot, it always finds something, so I am obviously still picking up more stuff? My machine is running MUCH better, but the latest oddity is sometimes a Google search in IE opens a Netscape window.

cvss.exe is still running there. Open Task Manager & end process on the following:
cvss.exe
Then go to C:\WINDOWS\System32 & delete the file manually.

In order to view these files you may have to select 'show hidden files/folders.' Instructions on how to here.

Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked':

The only way I could get cvss.exe stopped and deleted was via the command line - no matter what my view settings I couldn't see the file from Windows explorer, nor the process in task manager . Anyway, I've attached my HiJack this one (hopefully) last time. I definitely didn't have any browser windows opens when I ran HiJack This, and have tried to be careful about that.
