Cop shows that include a 5 minute foot chase. This is usually the result of the cops shouting out a suspect's name from half a block away instead of waiting until they are within arm's reach. Inevitably the suspect runs into the path of a car or truck and the chase ends up being pointless anyway. Cop shows where six cops burst in the front door of an apartment/house but neglect to post anyone at the fire escape/back door which is the only other exit. This leads to another pointless (and prolonged) foot chase. Shows where a victim is being …

I recently purchased a new Vizio 55" LED 1080p tv but I'm having trouble connection my Nintendo 64 to it. The red & white audio cable are working fine and I'm getting all of the audio but there is not yellow port on my new tv for the N64's yellow wire. The tv does have a green and blue port and when I connect the N64's yellow wire into the tv's green port the images shows up but it's black and white and scrolling upward. On my last tv this red, white, & yellow N64 wires into red, white, green …

This is a question for the Daniweb members from the UK. In North America we have seen a number of Americanized versions of British comedies. "Til Death Do Us Part" became "All in the Family". "Steptoe & Son" became "Sanford & Son", "Man About the House" became (the much inferior) "Three's Company". Here in Canada we also had access to original, unAmericanized British imports. I'd like to know what North American sitcoms (if any) were ever adapted for British television, and what sitcoms aired unmodified? Which ones were the most popular?

I am experiencing a weird problem with my computer. When I turn on my computer, it interferes with my TV downstairs and it won't receive any signal on a handful of channels (ITV, ITV2 and a couple other channels)dunwe. This issue has only happened when I moved my computer into a new computer case, with a new PSU and computer fans. This problem is most noticeable when I am playing any computer game (I can't view any of the selected channels at all), which leads me to believe it's related to perhaps the GPU fan causing interference. Whilst playing, I …

Hi, I have run tuner from DirectX filter graphs. My Tv Tuner Card does not provide I/Q samples(Low frequency) as Realtek RTL2832u based USB Tuners so i need to get RF samples directly from TV Tuner Analog Audio out pin and store it in hard disk for digital signal processing post processing. I am unable to find any information on this topic also the Directx (Graphedit) application does not allow TV Tuner output pins to be connected to its Sample Capture filter. Please provide info with source code example.

Hi, All last year i posted for solution to programatically retrieving I Q data from USB Tv Tuner (Gadmei UTV382 USB TV BOX) for implementation of SDR. Since then no reply was received that could solve the problem. Some detail of the device, it has 1. XCEIW XC4100ACQ tuner 2. SUNS AV600 Chip (i dont know exactly its DSP chip or demdulator) 3. No FM support The questions are: 1. Having no FM support as present in RTL2832u, how confirm that this stick can deliver I Q samples? 2. Is there any tool(API) that can scan the internals of USB …

I'm not sure if I'm writing this in the correct forum, but, here goes. I have Windows 7 Home Premium on a Dell Inspiron ONE_2020 4.00 GB RAM, 64-bit Operating System and I would like to play DVD's on my PC and view them on my Smart TV (I don't have a regular DVD player). The TV is a Samsung Smart series 5, model UN40EH5300. I've done a bit of research and some info advises to download a media sharing service called, "Allshare". I've also read that there's a handy-dandy button on the Samsung TV remote called, "Smart Hub" which, …

Hi All, I want to grab TV Tuner Raw Samples for implementing FM receiver. I need to have mechanism to Tune desired frequency and then grab Samples of that frequency, in this case it would be IF samples and then implement FM receiver over it. I have already seen various examples at codeproject but they are not working on raw samples instead getting decoded data for video and audio. Can any one tell me how to do this under windows. Programming language could be c, c++, C# or VB?

I recently bought a 3DTV (today, in fact. Just waiting for it to arrive early next week) and the only thing I need is an HDMI cable which can carry a 3D signal since my current one is only v1.3 which I believe cannot carry a 3D signal. I know that in terms of picture quality, there is little to no difference between the top of the range and bottom of the range so the main thing I'm looking for is the durability. The reason why I didn't buy an HDMI cable with the TV is because the cheapest one …

Okay so most people these days have a home hum (a wireless rooter) and the last year or so has seen the begining of the rise of home cloud computing with prducts like the seagates goflex network shareing device etc. My question is what can you link up to you 'network' and how, obviously most people will be thinking of the following: @ TV @ Sterio/music devices @ SmartPhones @ Consoles @ -Computers- also i know you can get; washing machines, dishwashers, fridges, tv related hardware (digi box sky + etc) and you could always look to connect up e-readers, …

This is unusual. When I started as a journalist in the late eighties it went pretty much without saying that some territories would be ahead of my own home in the UK for technological take-up. America and Japan would typically be three years ahead of us while Germany would be one or two. That seems to be changing a little. Of course, mass communication means change is faster overall so the gap was always going to narrow. Then there are individual product launches in which companies decide we're going to get stuff later - we still don't have Amazon's Kindle …

In case you hadn’t heard, and you probably have, Blu-ray has come out on top over HD-DVD in the new age video consumer marketplace. I thought that the higher prices for Blu-ray DVD players would work against it, but the superior technology and the always important “look-and-feel” quotient for Blu-ray put the capper on the jug. Now, what does this all translate to on Wall Street? Let’s take a look. According to a new research report from Strategy Analytics, “Blu-ray Devices: Forecasting Sales and Ownership”, Blu-ray devices will find their way into 29.4 million homes worldwide by the end of …

Warner Brothers certainly has a lot of weight to throw around the consumer technology - and their latest move landed squarely on increasingly frustrated HD-DVD providers. In a move that signals a tectonic shift in the consumer video industry, Warner Bros. Entertainment announced last week that it will release its high-definition DVD titles exclusively in the Blu-ray disc format, most likely starting later this year. The news came straight from the top -- from Barry Meyer, Chairman & CEO, Warner Bros. and Kevin Tsujihara, President, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group. “Warner Bros.’ move to exclusively release in the Blu-ray disc …

According to some online blogs, TiVo is employing a new scheme of digital rights management (DRM) which allows program sponsors (the people who provide the show, such as the network, or perhaps the syndication agency) to define when a show may be watched, and if it may be stored for later re-runs. TiVo quietly upgraded their "EULA" or End User's License Agreement" inside of an OS update that allows program suppliers to restrict how long the DVR may save recordings, or prevent the device from recording them alltogether. Of course, this was a quiet modification... I am certain that they …
