What board games, if any, do you play?

In the age of amazing video effects and immersive VR, board games can be overlooked. I like board games because they promote a sense of community by playing face to face instead of screen to screen. You generally have time to ponder a move rather than just react to a crisis.

Our regular board games are:

1. Settlers of Catan
2. Pandemic
3. Seven Wonders
4. Archipellago

Pandemic is that rare, cooperative game. All players work to a common goal, and all win or lose together. Catan has a number of varieties other than the base game to keep it interesting. Archipellago is by far the most complicated of the four.

Last week the cards were shuffled so strange, we lost a two player game of Pandemic in the second turn.

Harry Potter is also fun, I have nothing with the theme but the deck building play is fun, just like Pandemic you play against the game.

Last but not least Magic The Gathering (trading card game). Been playing this on and off since 93/94 and is recently back in my life.

I used to like Monopoly and Scrabble when I was younger. My husband doesn't enjoy either, so I rarely play these days. I do like jigsaw puzzles. Specifically, I somewhat recently got interested in The Magic Puzzle Company. I highly recommend you give them a try. Their puzzles have a very unique mechanic where they essentially fit together in different ways, have a "hidden ending", and tell a story.
