While I'm here, I need to find a good, free compiler for C / C++ newbies like me. Also, I need a free C++ tutorial. If anybody knows one, please let me know.

Bloodshed Dev C++ is free and really good (get the beta version - 5 i think)
There are many good C++ tutorials. Just google.
