I'm interested in Linux. Mainly curious. What is the best Linux to use ( i heard there are many versions, im not sure) for someone who wants to mess around and just want something new to play around with since i can't play with Vista yet.
Something that is almost as functional as Win XP.

ubuntu is probably the closest to windows-like linux experience out of the box

I feel fedora core 8 is good,but ubuntu also is good.I like fc beter than ubuntu

I just tried OpenSuse on VMware, and it was really easy. I deleted it right after because it doesn't look 'professional' enough for me. I think you'd like it's simplicity though.

well as a newbie I tiried red hat, suse, and settled oin Kubuntu 71 as an IOS cd works wonders when all else falls over! It is most like windows nd easy to follow

Yeah, A liveCD of Ubuntu or Kbuntu is best.

My first time playing with Unix like Os was with knoppix. It was interesting...
