Do you need to be a student attending a training course/college/university to do the MTA certification exam or can you self study at home with a textbook?I seem to be finding conflicting information about this new exam on the microsoft site.

Like all Microsoft's certs, college degree is not mandatory. Some people have passed the cert tests without ever reading a book, which is one reason IMO they are almost next to useless. But Narue could respond to that better than I can.
