Windows Explorer Keeps Restarting.. I Need Urgent Help Please!?

My brother recently downloaded a few files and he told me he scanned the compressed zip file with avg antispyware and avg free... both showed the containing files were clean.. after extracting and opening the files they dissapeared and shortly after windows explorer kept restarting itself, a few of which i had to open the task manager and restart explorer.exe myself, and it will not allow me to open such things as folders, control panel, etc... and as i do try to open these things, it again, restarts. I hope someone can please help me...

**UPDATE**

I have restarted my computer and i recieved 3 different errors:

along with:

Buffer overun detected!

Program C:\Windows\Explorer.EXE

A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must be terminated.

Although, now it allows me to open folders, control panel, etc... but opens different windows displaying adds when i open internet explorer.

nevermind... after another restart, i had to manually start explorer.exe myself, and now restrts again when i open things such as control panel :(

I pretty much solved this problem on my own haha, I don't know if my system is fully clean or not, but it stopped the adds and the explorer.exe restarts. All I did was do a system restore, and then run AVG free edition and Spyware Doctor together and cleaned up whatever it had found.
