Hi,

I am not sure exactly what I did to get this started (around the same time I got a new KB and mouse and got a new ISP, but didn't do too much else), but it looks like explorer.exe is crashing and starting over and over again shortly after startup (so, my desktop and taskbar flicker every couple of seconds). It doesn't always happen immediately, but as far as I can tell it does always happen.

I am currently running windows 2k server. Here is my Hijack This log:

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5756.html) to your desktop.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure to checkmark the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
* Post the log back here.

Make sure that you restart the computer.

The log can also be found here:
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
Or at C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt

Post new HJT log.

Hi,

Thanks, but it seems that this is a more serious problem than I thought - when I got up this morning, my computer will not really turn on. When I press power, all that goes on are the fans and the HDD light; the power light doesn't even turn on, nor does the monitor recieve any signal. I am guessing that this is probably actually a hardware problem, then?

I am heading off to work now, but if I can get the computer turned on this afternoon I will try what you suggested and post the results.

Thanks,
Gordon
