Hi. I was wondering if anyone could help me out. These programs Virtual Bouncer and Ad-destroyer keep reinstalling themselves on my PC. It constantly installs desktop icons, and keeps giving fake warnings. Ive run Adaware, and Search & Destroy, and Norton, but i cant get rid of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

See if they can be uninstalled from add\remove programs first.

Download HijackThis from here & it will install into it's own, permanent folder.
If you have anything disabled in MsConfig, please re-enable it/them.
Start HJT & press the scan button. When the scan is finished the scan button will change to save. Save the log to a text file, copy the entire contents of the text file & paste it into the body of your post. DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET. Most of what is there is necessary for the running of your system.

Okay. Here's my log...i wish id checked sooner, i deleted some files but the pc seems to be running alright:

Download LSPfix from here
On the opening screen, click the "I know what I'm doing" checkbox. Check all instances of "aklsp.dll and dolsp.dll" (and nothing else), and move them to the "Remove" pane. Then click Finish.

Go to d:\windows\system32 and manually delete those two files.

Scan with hijackthis and tick the boxes next to all the following entries, then close all browser and explorer windows, and hit the "Fix checked" button.

Thanks a lot for the help.

Can you go here http://securityresponse.symantec.co...re.look2me.html and download and run the VX2 removal tool following the instructions at Sysmantec.

When finished, reboot and post another log please.

Download and run VX2Finder(.exe).
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/VX2Finder.exe

Open the program and click the 'Click to Find VX2.aBetterInternet' button. This will attempt to find all VX2 related files and registry keys and when present display them in its logfile. To create a logfile, click the button named: 'Make Log'. This will open logfile using Notepad. Please post (copy/paste) the results and post them in this topic.

Okay, here are the results:

You forgot the hijackthis log :).

Download these two tools:

http://www.downloads.subratam.org/DllCompare.exe
&
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.exe

Run Dllcompare by clicking the "Run Locate.com" then click Compare button... when done post that log here..do not reboot once you have posted the logs because all the filenames will change otherwise.

Go here and download FindIt.zip to your Desktop, unzip it and open the FindIt folder and doubleclick on find.bat. Let it run (please be patient, it will take a few minutes) and when it has finished gathering info, it will generate a file called Output.txt. Please copy it and paste it back in this thread.

When i Ran the dll compare, nothing showed up. Here's my hijack this log:

I just tried to delete the two dll files you said to previously and it worked.

Just some cleaning up then :).

Scan with hijackthis and tick the boxes next to all the following entries, then close all browser and explorer windows, and hit the "Fix checked" button.

O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 auto.search.msn.com
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 search.netscape.com
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 ieautosearch
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 ieautosearch

Then you need to reboot and check if those 01 entries return. If they do not, you are clear.

:) Thanks a lot. The files didnt show up so im good to go. Just out of curiosity...so you know what the process lsass.exe is?

From answersthatwork;

Windows NT4/2000/XP/2003 only. LSASS is the Local Security Authentication Server. It verifies the validity of user logons to your PC/Server (in technical jargon : it generates the process that is responsible for authenticating users for the Winlogon service).

Recommendation :
An integral part of the operating system, leave alone provided that its full path is either C:\WinNT\System32\LSASS.exe (Windows 2000) or C:\Windows\System32\LSASS.exe (Windows XP/2003). If the path is anything else then you may have a virus

Hey Joe, you should go to Windows Update and get the Critical Updates for your system to help prevent these types of problems.

Just a thought. Can you do the following;

Go here and download and run Silent Runners.vbs. It generates a log, please post the information back in this thread.

Does your recycle bin work ok? This infection sometimes caused files not to be seen in the bin.
