Hi,
Open NotePad, and copy the contents of the below "Quote" box:-

cd %windir%
attrib -s -r -h ALCMTR.EXE
del ALCMTR.EXE
cd system32
attrib -s -r -h install32m.exe
attrib -s -r -h intel32.exe
attrib -s -r -h msnethlp32.exe
attrib -s -r -h Oeoepi32.exe
attrib -s -r -h paytime.exe
attrib -s -r -h Lgjopdch.dll
del Lgjopdch.dll
del install32m.exe
del intel32.exe
del Oeoepi32.exe
del msnethlp32.exe
del paytime.exe

Go to File Menu > Save As, and save the file with the name Test.bat and exit from NotePad.
Download Ewido and install it. Then run, you will receive a warning message saying "Database not found", click "OK" for this. Next in the main screen, click "Update" and click "Start Update". After the update process, exit from Ewido.

Download CCleaner and CWShredder.

Please print or save this Webpage.

Make Windows to show all files:-
Go to Start > My Computer.
Go to Tools menu, click Folder Options (Folder Option will be in View Menu in Win98).
Uncheck Hide protected operating system files.
Then, click to select the option Show hidden files and folders.
Click Apply and then click OK to exit.

Reboot in Safe Mode:-
Restart (or switch ON) the PC.
Then, keep tapping the F8 Key.
From the menu that will be displayed, out of which choose Safe Mode and press Enter.

Run HijackThis and click Do only a System scan.
Then put a check mark infront of below listed entries:-

Close all other open programs except Hijackthis and click the button Fix Checked in HijackThis.

Double-Click on the file Test.bat, a small DOS type window should open and close immediately.

Delete this folder ( and all the files inside it ):-
C:\Program Files\PSGuard

Search for this file and delete it:-
msnethlp32.dll

Run CCleaner, click "Options" button and here go to "Settings" tab and uncheck the option "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours". Click OK to exit from the Options. Finally click "Run Cleaner" and choose "Yes" to continue cleaning.

Run Ewido, click on the "Scanner" button in the left menu, then click on the "Start" button.
If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select "Clean" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.
When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file.

Next, run CWShredder and click "Fix".

Reboot to Normal Mode. Run HijackThis again. Then click Do a System scan and save log, and post the fresh log along with the Ewido log.

Open NotePad, and copy the contents of the below "Code" box:-

regedit /e Info.txt "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies"

Go to File Menu > Save As, and save the file with the name Desk.bat and exit from NotePad.

Double-Click on the file Desk.bat, a small DOS type window should open and close immediately.
After this, there would be a file called Info.txt in the same location where Desk.bat was present. Open the Info.txt and post it's contents here.

Hi,
Log looks clean :D Now, let's take care of background image!
Open NotePad, and copy the contents of the below "Quote" box:-

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoDriveTypeAutoRun"=dword:00000091
"NoActiveDesktopChanges"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
"NoDispBackgroundPage"=dword:00000000
"NoDispAppearancePage"=dword:00000000

Go to File Menu > Save As, and save the file with the name Fix.REG and exit from NotePad.

Double-Click on the file Fix.REG, and choose "Yes" to merge the file with Registry.

Reboot the PC, and check whether the background is back to normal, and please post back the results.

You can use SpywareBlaster ot prevent the installation of Internet Explorer based malwares. After installing SpywareBlaster, run it, click "Enable All Protection" and close it.
For more applications to secure your PC, you can take a look at this topic.

Also, please post a fresh HijackThis log after running the Fix.Reg file.

thankyou very very much swatkat,i cant thankyou enough, youve saved so much time and money for me and i am so glad that u were the one who helped me fix the problem, i really appreciate it, everything seems superb and going :) well,the backgroud is back to normal and the pc is superb.

Hi,
Glad that i could help you :D and log looks clean.
You can learn more about HijackLog interpretation here. And about identifying the virus infected files, you can use Google. There are websites like Symantec Virus Research Centre, Sophos Virus Analysis and eTrust Virus Encyclopedia etc, which have database of large number virus database and also files related. You can search these sites directly or through Google.
Also, all these things need practice ;-)
And, yes, being a member to forums like this!
