First of all you are using TWO antivirus programs on the computer,
Avast and Microsoft Security Essentials. The absolute rule is ONE antivirus program should run on a computer. Any more than one then, yes the computer can become extremely slow but, and more important, you actually can lessen your protection because the two programs will constantly battle each other rather than offer good protection.
Uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials, Avast is the much better choice.
Secondly, you are using IE 8, not the worlds fastest browser.

You also cannot even compare a phone to a computer, makes no sense whatsoever. They are not the same thing at all. The phone may be considered a "mini computer" in the sense it can do some of the same things but that is like comparing apples to oranges, they are both fruit, period, that's it. Otherwise no comparison.

Is this the only slow down you see, the browser or is it everything on the computer?

It seems like everything is slow, What i meant by the comparison to the iphone is that I think the wireless signal I am receiving on the computer shouldnt be the problem because its okay on my iphone. I only meant wireless speed I guess is what I am saying. But again yes even when I just tried to open control panel to delete Micro sec essentials it took awhile to open also..

Reboot to safe mode with networking and try to uninstall that way. Then also do these steps still in Safe Mode.
Please Download ATF-Cleaner.exe by Atribune (Windows XP, 2K, 2003, 7 & Vista ONLY)
RUN ATF-Cleaner.exe.

• Click on ATF-Cleaner to run it
• Where it says Select Files To Delete, Check the Select All Option
• Click Empty Selected > OK

If you use Firefox browser, do this also:

* Click Firefox at the top and choose Select All from the list.
* Click the Empty Selected button.
* NOTE : If you would like to keep your saved passwords, click No at the prompt.

download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBA-M) to your Desktop.

* DoubleClick mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install MBA-M.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When MBA-M finishes, Notepad will open with the log. Please save it where you can find it easily. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt.

REBOOT to normal mode after running MBA-M!
If something was found by MBA-M during the safe mode scan then run another full scan with MBA-M in normal mode and follow same procedure
Download a NEW version of HijackThis from http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/
and run a system scan with it.
Post back here with both the MBA-M logs and the HJT log.

I will get you the second mbam log tomorrow Thanks RYun

The 2nd mbam found nothing i can get the log if you need it Thanks Ryun Sometimes it seems faster now but still acts slow most of the time

How much hard drive space remains and how much RAM is installed?

it looks like the hard drive is a 74.5 GB with 54.8 Free space and the Ram is 504mb i guess it says Celeron 420 @ 1.6 GHZ 1.60 Ghz, 504 MB of Ram

504mbof RAM, there is part of your problem. That is barely enough to even run XP, let alone any other programs. You should really see about increasing that. Go to http://www.crucial.com/ and run their scan, it will tell you exactly what type of RAM you need, how much you can add and how much it will cost. If you are in the U.S. it is likely the cheapest place you can get it.

I increased Ram to 1 GB and I have tried it for a few days and I dont think it has helped for example MSN is my home page when I double clicked on the IE Icon it took 8 sec before it did anything and another 40 seconds before the window was fully open. any ideas Thanks Ryun

Well I just tested my computer using IE 7. It took also 8 seconds to respond and nearly 30 seconds to fully load my home page which is http://abcnews.go.com/.
So I certainly think yours is within reason. That said, notice I have IE 7 not IE 8. That browser is primarily for Vista and Windows 7. Many people using XP have found that it does not work well for them with XP. Also, I rarely use IE at all, with the exception of websites that require IE and now that basically is Windows Updates, I use Firefox. This is consistently a much faster browser. Another much faster browser than IE is Opera. I use it also but am not as fond of the interface of Opera but it too is much faster than IE. Both are much more secure than IE also. So this would also be one suggestion I would make, consider using a faster browser.
