Hello, I think I have a search engine redirect virus; each time I am on Internet Explorer/Firefox (using Yahoo or Google search, it doesn't matter), I type in, for instance, "Berenstain Bears". I click on the link that I know is their official website, and I get redirected to bizrate, eBay, or some other random search engine.

The only way I know I am being redirected before the random page pops up is that there is a green grid-like globe logo to the left of the address bar (the address just goes from the search address to the new address, but there is a very brief pause and that is when the logo shows up with the new address and logo disappears but address stays the same).

I have used AVG, Spyware Doctor, and Glary Utilities. The search redirect does not happen every time, and usually does not happen for about five minutes after I scan with any of them, then it starts again!

Also, right before this happened, there were pop-ups for anti-virus software that changed the background of the desktop to black with red/white text saying that I need to download the latest anti-virus system because my pc is at risk. Another thing that happened - both of these stopped after I ran Spyware Doctor - is that each time I would search, something would seem to bring up Windows Explorer and start scanning my hard drive for viruses? Does that sound famliar?

I have run Malwarebytes and HijackThis in that order and the logs are below, respectively:

Your Temp folder contains infections..

Please Download ATF-Cleaner (Windows XP, 2K, 2003 & Vista ONLY)
• You can put ATF-Cleaner on your Desktop for easy access.
RUN ATF-Cleaner.exe.

-- Click on ATF-Cleaner to run it
-- Where it says Select Files To Delete, Check the Select All Option
-- Click Empty Selected > OK

Reboot

Download Ccleaner, Install it, Open it...
Under the 'Cleaner' Section select all in the 'Windows' And 'Applications' Tab, Then click on 'Analyze' And then 'Run Cleaner'...
Do The Same In The 'Registry' Tab, i.e. 'Scan For Issues' and 'Fix Selected Issues', It will ask you to make a backup, DO IT...Then Click on 'Fix All'...Now Reboot The Pc..

Post a new HJT log since the last one you had posted was from the scan run immediately after the MBAM scan and without cleaning the infections...

Thanks so much, just got everything fixed a few minutes ago by a professional!

Wow! That's really cool!

That doesn't work. You don't need to run anything accept combofix wich is a freeware that can be found at bleepingcomputer. These are nice softwares that was listed and does help very much in cleaning out the junk on your computer and making it run alot better and faster. It doesn't remove the virus tho. Combofix fixes it easily and you don't have to run hijack this or any other programs to get rid of it. I also recomend malwarebytes to see if you have any other nasties lingering....it should get all that may be left over after running combofix.

Combofix should never be run without supervision. It is not a program to be used the same way that one would use MBA-M.
For those who choose to use it on your own, be aware that one wrong move can brick your pc.
