What type of anti-virus are you running? Have you looked at the log files for your anti-virus to see what the problem is?

AJZ

Download HijackThis (current verison is v1.99.1)

or here (Alternate 1, a self-extracting zip file)
or here (Alternate 2, an *.exe file)

Make a new folder to put your HijackThis.exe into.

(Anywhere on your hard drive is fine other than your Desktop or the Temp folder. Suitable examples are:

  • C:HijackThis
  • C:Programshijackthis
  • C:WindowsMy DocumentsHJT

but feel free to use any name.)

Extract and save the HijackThis download to the new folder you made. Then navigate to it and run HijackThis from there. (This is to ensure it makes the necessary backups for recovery if fixes are made) Then, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and click Scan.

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button. Press that and copy & paste its contents in your reply. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't try to fix anything yourself.

Thanks.

Hi, my name is Rigo, I had the same problem with this message, i lend my laptop to a friend and when i got it back it has this issue, i tried to get rid of it with norton internet security, but i didn't succed, it couldn't find anything i looked at the task manager, and i was traying to kill apps one by one but that message kept appearing, so finally i ran windows in safe mode and i ran the norton antivirus(norton internet security doesn't run in safe mode) only allow you to run a full virus scan, which i did, and the Adware was detected.
is called Adware.SpySheriff, low riks but annoying.
hope this help.

I was just surfing for anyone who might have this same problem. I'll try your way of getting rid of this annoyence.

My son has an account on myspace. Some "girl" looking for a "guy" asks you to view "her" profile and lo and behold there is where our "problem" came from. If we can get enough people to watch for this situation and exactly what they did we might be able to help stop or slow down the whole thing.

Again, thanks for the info on getting rid of it.

Seem like you have a Smitfraud type infection , download something called SmitRem and run it in safe mode , just to make sure it get rid of everything , make sure you back up all of your data too.

All you guys whose posts I have just deleted take note please!!

We ask that members not piggy-back questions on to a thread previously started by another member here in the Viruses, Spyware & other Nasties forum, (regardless of how similar your problem might seem). Not only does it divert the focus of the thread away from the original poster's problem, but it also makes it less likely that you yourself will get the individual attention that you need.

Please start your own thread and post your question there. When you do, please try to give us as much specific info as possible regarding the problem (exact error messages, system specs, etc.).

Any help would be VERY appreciated!!!

Thanks.

Thanks.

Sorry i'm new here and don't know much except for I have the same problem. Here is the list. Which ones should I delete?

Look for file dcvwaah.dll in C:\Windows\System32 folder. Rename the file to dcvwaah1.dll. Reboot the system. Delete the file. This is how I got rid of this problem. Good Luck.

As our Moderator crunchie posted earlier:

We ask that members not piggy-back questions on to a thread previously started by another member here in the Viruses, Spyware & other Nasties forum, (regardless of how similar your problem might seem). Not only does it divert the focus of the thread away from the original poster's problem, but it also makes it less likely that you yourself will get the individual attention that you need.

Please start your own thread and post your question there. When you do, please try to give us as much specific info as possible regarding the problem (exact error messages, system specs, etc.).

For a full description of our posting guidelines and general rules of conduct, please see this page:

http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforum..._faq#faq_rules

Because everyone's computer is configured slightly differently, and because there are several infections which display a bogus alert warning, every member requesting malware removal assistance should start a thread of their own.

To help us help you most quickly: in your first post in the thread you start, please include the log file of a HijackThis scan of your computer by following these directions:

* Download the (free) HijackThis utility:

* Once downloaded, create a new folder for HJT outside of any Temp/Temporary folders and move the HijackThis.exe file to that folder now. A folder such such as C:\HijackThis or C:\Spyware Tools\HijackThis will do.

* Run HijackThis, but do not have HJT fix anything yet; only have it scan your system! Once the scan is complete, the "Scan" button will turn into an option to "Save log...".

* Save the log in the folder you created for HijackThis; the saved file will be named "hijackthis.log".

* The log file will open in Windows Notepad once you save it; cut-n-paste the entire contents of the file from Notepad and post it here.

The log contents will tell us a lot about what "nasties" have crept into your system, and once we analyse the log we can tell you what to do from there.

Hi, Im new here but i have the same problem as many ppl here. Here is the Hijackthis report. Thank you very much, Im fed up with the alerts. Thanks again!

Hi top.tucnak- welcome to DaniWeb!

Please read my previous post (directly above yours) regarding our reasons for asking members to start their own new thread when they have a malware problem they need help with.
If you could post your HijackThis log in your own new thread, that would be very helpful to us; this thread is already cluttered with enough HijackThis logs from different members that it has become hard to follow. By starting your own thread you'll get much more focussed attention from us, as we will be able to concentrate on your log and your log alone.

Thanks :)

Thanks.

Hi kaste69 .

First of all- welcome to Daniweb :).
