PLEASE HELP ME,
Last night i seemed to have acquired a bug! There is an icon in the bottom left of the screen that alternates between a blue question mark and a no-entry sign. It makes this alert pop up and directs me to download "spyburst" to remove it. Everything i have seen indicates not to do that. I have read a lot, but am still confused how to get rid of this pest. If anyone can help, please, please, please help. Thanks a lot in advance for your help. I ran a hijackthis search this morning and this is the result:

Any help is welcome. Thanks again, Haleysdad2004

Hello HaleysDad,

I came across Ur post yesterday while researching a way to remove the same problem u r having..

Here is what i did,

1. I found running Spybot1.4 in safe mode helpped a great deal, but did not get everything.

2. I ran Adaware 1.06r1 that also helpped, but did not remove all.

3. I downloaded Spysweeper & installed the trial ver. It should work for about 14 days or so b4 u have to buy it.. Take advantage of this powerful program.. Once installed activate the online update for the Def files. I ran this also from safe mode & it found things that the others did not.

4. Here is where it gets good.. Some how the icon u speak of, the taskbar icon w/ the question mark and the No Enter symbol & that ridiculous message about Critical Error, manages to either reinstall itself or remain hidden durring all of my individual scans, but when I ran spybot 1.4 from Windows normal mode & SpySweeper was running in the back ground, Spy Sweeper managed to detect several of the components associated w/ that little bugger. So I shut down Spybot & let Spysweeper run it's course. In all it found

- 7 SpyWare Apps & 354 variants

Here r some of them....

- Trojan Downloader - Zlob - ( 4 copies )
--- ( Remote access Trojan ) ---

- PestTrap
-- Associated files: Pmsngr.exe, Pmmon.exe

Also in the Registry: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
currentVersion\Policies\explorer\Run\Homepage.Monitor.exe

- PurityScan

- VirusBurst/VirusBurst Fake Alert
--- ( The VirusBurst Fake Alert is what u may b having a
problem w/ )

---> The associated file linked to Fake Alert above is: GTPBX.DLL
It's located in C:\Windows\System32

- Please keep in mind that the file I just mentioned in the System32 Dir is only (1 ), after SpySweeper got done, it took nerarly 1.5 hrs, it found junk riddled all over my registry and Hard drive. The good news is that after all the work SpySweeper did it's now gone and things r back to normal here.

Here is another part of Ur problem..

these files:

C:\Program Files\PCODEC\isamonitor.exe
C:\Program Files\PCODEC\isamini.exe

Anything relating to these should b removed also..

I managed to get all that installed in a matter of a few seconds.. All I was trying to do is install a new Codec.. My own stupid fault..

good luck,

Omega
