I finally got about:blank off my computer by simply removing i-tunes with quick time from my computer. Everything is working much better and I no longer have that about:blank appear when I'm logging off my home page. Go figure....

Nice find, . A quick note: about:blank is a browser-controlled blank page and by itself is not malware. It commonly appears as a homepage, when a page fails to load, or when a program or helper component tells the browser to open an empty page. That said, if it appears unexpectedly or keeps returning, a background program or browser add-on is often the root cause.

Try this short checklist to isolate and fix the cause:

  • Check your browser startup/homepage settings and change any about:blank entries to your preferred page.
  • Disable all extensions/add-ons and restart the browser. Re-enable them one at a time to spot the culprit.
  • Review Startup items (Task Manager or msconfig) and perform a clean boot to see if a service or startup app triggers it.
  • Inspect browser helper objects and scheduled tasks using a tool like Autoruns (Sysinternals) to find non-obvious hooks.
  • Scan with an up-to-date anti-malware tool (Windows Defender, Malwarebytes, etc.) and check the hosts file for redirections.
  • If the issue began after installing new software, uninstall that software or use System Restore; back up bookmarks before resetting browsers.

If the blank page returns after these steps, report which browser, OS, and any recent installs here and we can help narrow it down further.
