Good troubleshooting so far by (logs posted) and (LSP-focused removal). The symptoms and the HijackThis output point to a layered Winsock component plus adware-style startup/hook entries — these often cause sluggish networking and intermittent application hangs because they sit inside the TCP/IP call chain. Removing the visible files is only part of the job; the Winsock catalog must be restored cleanly and remaining autoruns/hooks verified.

Recommended next steps (safe, ordered):

  • Create a full system Restore Point and export the registry before making changes.
  • Remove the offending program files while in Safe Mode, then restore the Winsock catalog. If an LSP removal tool was used and connectivity still degrades, reset the stack with the built-in network utilities. Example commands (run from an elevated command prompt and reboot afterward):
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
ipconfig /flushdns
  • After the reboot, run up-to-date anti-malware and rootkit scanners (use reputable scanners and updated definitions) to catch leftover components. If connectivity is lost after the reset, reinstall the NIC driver or run the OS repair utility before re-adding network-related software.

Verification and cleanup:

  • Re-scan with HijackThis (updated version) and compare a fresh log to the earlier one posted by . Confirm there are no remaining URL search-hook or LSP entries and no Run/RunOnce launchers left behind.
  • If entries persist that appear harmless but are unknown, research each CLSID/filename before removal. When in doubt, a repair install of Windows or a clean backup restore is the safest route for systems that remain unstable.

Final notes: removing LSPs can break connectivity if done piecemeal. Follow the ordered approach above, document each change, and post a new HijackThis log if further examination is needed.

Hi. First of all you need to update hijackthis to version 1.98.1 Run hijackthis & go to *Config\Misc Tools\Check for update on-line*. Remove 1.97 from the folder it is in & replace it with 1.98.1.

Go to add/remove programs & uninstall *Virtumundo* if found.

Download LSPfix from
On the opening screen, click the "I know what I'm doing" checkbox. Check all instances of "lspak.dll" (and nothing else), and move them to the "Remove" pane. Then click Finish.

Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked':

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {707E6F76-9FFB-4920-A976-EA101271BC25} - C:\Program Files\TV Media\TvmBho.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [TV Media] C:\Program Files\TV Media\Tvm.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [TV Media] C:\Program Files\TV Media\Tvm.exe

c:\windows\system32\lspak.dll

Reboot into safe mode following the instructions & navigate to & delete the following if found:

C:\Program Files\TV Media-folder

c:\windows\system32\lspak.dll

Reboot normally after doing the above then post a fresh log please.
