about 2 days ago my computer started acting all weird. my desktop background turned black and the words "WARNING! SPYWARE HAS BEEN DETECTED ON YOUR PC" and it shows my i.p. address and says another computer gained access. there is also a yellow triangle with an explantaion by the time. (sorry i cant remember what thats called i think its the tray) well when i click on it it takes me to some bogus anti spyware sites. and a fake windows security center opens and tells me i have a trojandownload.xs but when i click how to remove it takes me to same site. in the address bar it says C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\pt.htm which doesnt look like a site at all. i keep using many things to get rid of it but nothing works. PLEASE HELP. my task manager has aslo been disabled. but i download this thing called RRT AUTO REMOVE and it fixes it until i restart. then i gotta do that again. sorry i wrote so much but i need help.

Hi and welcome to Daniweb forums :).

Can you please do the following.

===============

You will have to disable Spybot's Teatimer before we begin, as it will interfere with the fix. To do this can you start Spybot and go to the Mode button and select Advanced. Go to Tools > Resident and uncheck the box next to Tea-Timer. Make sure that the icon in the system tray is no longer there. If it is, just right click on it and select "Exit".
Download ResetTeaTimer.bat.
Double click ResetTeaTimer.bat to remove all entries set by TeaTimer.
Do not forget to re-enable teatimer when we are done :).
If teatimer gives you a warning afterwards that some changes were made, allow this instead of blocking it.

...(Unless you've set these with an anti-spyware program like SpyBot's Immunize feature, have HiJackThis fix this.)

O20 - AppInit_DLLs: c:\windows\system32\ldcore.dll

Now, close all instances of Internet Explorer and any other windows you have open except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

===============

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure you are able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

files...

c:\windows\system32\ldcore.dll

-

Note that some of these file(s)/folder(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them in Safe Mode by doing the following:

 • Restart your computer
 • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
 • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear.

Select the first option to run Windows in Safe Mode hit enter.

-

Reboot.

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» Scanning for wininet.dll infection

»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» End

HELLO!!

well im pretty sure i did everything right. quick question, is ResetTeaTimer.bat. a really fast process? cuz it was like 2 seconds.

Yeah, that's fine :).

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a Notepad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

 • Restart your computer
 • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
 • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
 • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
 • Choose your usual account.

Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart anyway into normal Windows. A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply along with a new HijackThis log.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Warning : running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

i think somethings wrong. when im in safe mode and try to run it, it doesnt work. it says that joedanger has nothing to do with the site and some other stuff then asks me to push a key to continue. but when i push a key it feezes. i tried this a few times. should i wait until something happens?

also my desktop was blank and i was able to put my old one on. and that yellow triangle with the explanation point seems to be gone. is there somewhere i could get a free anti virus?

i think i spoke to soon. i downloaded avast and it restarted and did some kind of scan while windows was opening. that back ground is back. the triangle showed up at start up but i dont see it anymore. i hope i didnt mess something up

heres an update.

commented: HES SO HELPFUL!!! +1

is it just as effective? and should i wait till the scan is finished? scan seems like its going to take a while

No, but as you are having problems in safe mode, it's worth a shot.

Save this as CFScript.txt and change the "Save as type" to "All Files" and place it on your desktop.

Referring to the image above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.

CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Post another hijackthis log too if the removal was successful.

those files you told me to scan are gone. i guess they got deleted. im pretty sure smitfraudfix took care of msole32.exe

also when my task manager was disabled i downloaded a program called RRT
( http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/2007/06/28/restore-task-manager-regedit-and-folder-options-disabled-by-virus/ ) and i think it unhide some files...its kinda weird. i see some semi clear folders that i couldnt see before. does this matter?

but heres the log.

also when my task manager was disabled i downloaded a program called RRT
(http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/2007/06/28/restore-task-manager-regedit-and-folder-options-disabled-by-virus/) and i think it unhide some files...its kinda weird. i see some semi clear folders that i couldnt see before. does this matter?

You should be able to hide those again by going to Control Panel | Folder Options | View and changing the settings there.

==

Can you please do the following.

===============

Did you run reset tea-timer before you went ahead and did the fix. I don't know why you are trying to deny the change anyway as that is what we are trying to do :).
