Need major help with recovered files

I need some major help with recovered files. Quite a while ago my son connected my external hard drive to his xBox and at the advice of my father (lol) he hit the "configure" button and everything was lost. (All this because my son did not want to disconnect the PS 3, which is the same difficulty - ughhh. Anyway, I did use Easeus to recover the files but now there are files you can see and files that have "properties" and sizes but do not open up. For example, a .jpg that would normally open in Windows Photo Gallery is not getting an error that is something like "this type of file is not supported; it's a jpg, I don't understand. My desparation is that I am a picture freak and most of what I desparately want to recover is pictures of my kids, family, and friends (years of pics and tons of them!) Who can I get to help me? How do I find someone who is a "whiz" at this and can recover all the possible files and help get all the files that possibly will, to open? Any help and any advice is GREATLY appreciated!!!
