AFAICT 100 rep points per block. That's just based on looking at my own though, so the data set is quite limited.
Oh okay.. thanks.
I totally agree, but here at Daniweb it's not as bothersome as everywhere else. The reputation system seems to work fairly well, so you can see via means other than post count who is helping people and who isn't. You can even tell who spends most of their time playing word games :P
How many reputation points does it take to get a block? Is it 100? Because I have 46 points at the moment.
Yeah, I'm the person that spends most of my time in the geek's lounge playing word games hehe...
Wow... very strange. =/
Can you really plan a person for believing in god hundreds of years ago? No you cannot. As you cannot blame a person for believing the world is flat if the the society dictates so and the society is against free ideas and expresssion.
They were scientists. They very well could have believed in anything they wanted because they were considered intelligent and well-educated. More like geniuses. Like I have already said in my last post, in Newton's system of physics, God is essential to the nature and absoluteness of space. Einstein recognized the impossibility of a non-created universe and firmly denied atheism. William Thomson Kelvin was another scientist that I didn't mention who helped laid the foundation of modern physics. He was a committed Christian and creationist, who was certainly more religious than the average for his era. Interestingly, his fellow physicists, George Gabriel Stokes (1819-1903) and James Clerk Maxwell (1831-1879) were also men of deep Christian commitment, in an era when many were nominal, apathetic, or anti-Christian. The Encyclopedia Britannica says "Maxwell is regarded by most modern physicists as the scientist of the 19th century who had the greatest influence on 20th century physics; he is ranked with Sir Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein for the fundamental nature of his contributions."
Do you honestly think middle-class people of their time would really question their intelligence? Whether it be atheism or Christianity? These were the men who shaped the foundation of science, genetics, mathematics, philosophy, mechanics, astronomy, and …

Niiice... I really like them.
Yeah, I better go to sleep soon too... but I'd like to say this one last thing....
Did you know that there were a lot of famous scientists that believed in God...? such as:
Johannes Kepler,
Galileo Galilei,
Gregor Mendel,
Albert Einstein (although he never came to belief in a personal God), he still recognized the impossibility of a non-created universe. The Encyclopedia Britannica says of him: "Firmly denying atheism, Einstein expressed a belief in "Spinoza's God who reveals himself in the harmony of what exists." This actually motivated his interest in science, as he once said as a young physicist: "I want to know how God created this world, I am not interested in this or that phenomenon, in the spectrum of this or that element. I want to know His thoughts, the rest are details." Einstein's famous epithet on the "uncertainty principle" was "God does not play dice" - and to him this was a real statement about a God in whom he believed. A famous saying of his was, "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind."
Isaac Newton was a genius, everyone knows that... but what was less known was the fact that he was devoutly religious and saw numbers as involved in understanding God's plan for history from the Bible. He did a considerable work on biblical numerology, and, though aspects of his beliefs were not orthodox, he thought theology was very important. In his system of …
A friend of mine who was atheist actually mentioned something eluding to discrepancies and such in the bible.. I hadn't ever really thought of God not existing up to that point. I just started thinking about it.. Thats what my hobby is, just to think about stuff that most people find insignificant lol.. The more I thought about it, the more the truth became clear to me.. keep in mind, it took me a couple years before I could actually break from Christianity, and consider myself atheist..
To this day I have never told my parents or any of my family lol.. They would be really pissed, probably disown me and make me go to some catholic college:rolleyes: hah, I still go to church EVERY Sunday.. reconciliation, adoration..:-|
But.. w/e.. only like a month until graduation!! What Christian denomination are you?
I see... but don't you think there's so much evidence concerning the existence of a God? I don't know, I guess for me there has always been enough proof.
Yes, I'm Protestant.

hah.. yea, it does kinda suck.. but wut can ya do?
I remember when I used to argue with atheists.. I always thought they were crazy people damned straight to hell lol..
Lol really? May I ask what changed your mind?
I'm a nihilist.. so I believe nothing exists after death. You didn't exist before you were born, and you cease to exist after death..
Ahh... that sucks. lol
But on a serious note, I really don't think I could be an atheist... I just feel like I have so much more hope in everything with God.
Yep... so what are your views as an atheist... concerning life after death and whatnot?
are the jews not the exact same as the christians? The only difference is that they are waiting for god's son to come.. hey, at least my internet still works lol
Lol glad your internet works!
Yeah, the only huge difference is that they believe the Messiah hasn't came yet. But there are several small things, such as worship and holidays. They also only use the Old Testament (Torah) as a reference to God.
Your wallpapers are awesome!
I don't own a laptop myself, but I think I'll be getting one at graduation. I'm thinking about a Sony Vaio... anyone have it?
religion -> Christianity
Hey speaking of religion and the afterlife I once heard that the jewish do not believe in it. Is that a crazy lie or true?
Anyone here Jewish? I always get confused whether it's a religion or race.
A Jewish identity is automatically bestowed on the babies of Jewish mothers (according to Orthodox and Conservative Judaism) and of Jewish mothers or fathers (according to Reform Judaism). This Jewish identity stays with them throughout life even if they don't actively practice Judaism.

hm... I already have 560-someodd yet still only two blocks of rep power... I must have been wasting too much time...
How many reps does it take to get a block?

Phrase your sentences correctly.
Yeah i know everyone has their doubts sometimes and i suppose its probably just Satan trying to get to us and i suppose the only thing to do is keep on going.
Exactly. :cheesy:
I have to agree with you there even if my last post may seem to say otherwise. I still believe that there is infact a God and that alot of the stuff in the bible is real and that Jesus did exist on earth etc. i suppose my main doubts come from the old testament with some of the stories that you get that seem to be written alot like some of the greek mythology and stuff
Yeah... but remember, God asks that you only have faith the size of a mustard seed! So don't worry my friend, I think a lot of people have doubts too...
I am so angry!! I wrote a nice post and this site crashed!!
Now you get to enjoy the short version.
I won't hate anyone here or get mad about anything anyone says because I'm rock solid in my beliefs. You can say what you want and I won't flinch. If I was not certain of my beliefs I might take this very personally. Can everyone else here truly say that?
Christina. Again, I don't think anyone here really hates anyone.
From now on lets have all rebuttals to each other be objective. No subjective ideas or feelings allowed.
Man, I said a lot of good stuff earlier. It must have been God's will that no one see it. (Oops, I just broke my own rule, darn it!)
I know that no one hates anyone here, I was just saying that because you said that "I was so sensitive that I seem to be hating as well."
Oh, and I am another that can truly say that nothing anyone can do will dwindle my belief. I have enough proof in history, archaeology, and in my life to believe in a loving, merciful, and omnipotent God.
Christinia, I was responding to lasher. He said some christian said that and it wasn't in the bible. I believe he was talking about having to love enemies. My point was on loving enemies was you are so sensitive that you seem to be hating as well.
Ok.
How does it seem that I am hating? I am simply just standing up for what I believe in. I don't hate you.
Didn't Lucifer envy god? Lucifer wanted to be just as powerful as god, but god wouldn't have it. He sent Lucifer and his followers straight to hell.
sharkey, I see your point in the argument.. If God is omnipotent, wouldn't he know that he would be betrayed.. The conflicting ideas of omnipotence and free will always confuse me. Would god not do everything in his power to avoid a confrontation with lucifer? Doesn't god want all the humans to go to heaven?
No, He sent Lucifer and the third of the angels to the earth.
Yeah, of course God wants everyone to go to Heaven to be with Him, but He gives us the choice.

Great... :)
God's pride was hurt and he was envious of Lucifer. Very human things. A god of true power would show them the errors of their ways and forgive them. They would love and respect him for it and all would be well.
Nope, you still don't get it.
It was not God's pride that was hurt... it was the lustful desires of Lucifer. It was Lucifer's fault. He was the one that CHOSE his path. He was an angel, he was just like the rest of them... but because of His pride (which is a sin)... he could not remain in Heaven since Heaven is a sinless place.
