do you get any error messages when in safe mode?. Did you uninstall Acrobat?. Need more information to go on. Safe mode only goes into a loop if windows cannot load a driver
I might try a chkdsk /F you might have bad sectors that it sees but because checkdisk does not fix the errors by default you might be going into a loop each time
yea Im guessing your usung windows xp so from your start menu do to programs, accessories and system tools, then launch system restore. From there you can select a time were you want to restore from
