Hmm...I think there is some typo mistakes in the above one posted by Mr. Dave.

int compareChar(char *myArr, char *mySecArr)
{
   int count = 0;
   size_t len = strlen(mySecArr);

   // mySecArr should be myArr
   while ( (mySecArr = strstr(myArr, mySecArr)) != NULL )

   {
      count++;
      // mySecArr should be myArr
      mySecArr += len;
   }
   return count;
}

That is because time( ) is a function in standard C++ found in the ctime header file.

You can't name program variables with the names of standard functions. If you will observe closely, that is also what those errors say out.

Hope it helped, bye.

If you already know Java, why not just use it ? No point in wasting your time learning a new language, better utilize that time to do some brainstorming about your project and making it a better application.

Java has gone out to show that it can be used for almost all software development projects and there are very less things which can't be done in Java (driver development, 3D engines ?)

You can try out free IDE's like Code:Blocks and Dev C++ which work well on *nix systems.

BTW for your Eclipse thing maybe this will help you out .

Personally, I think my personal best signature was the one about my signature being snipped by a moderator.

Ah...had forgot about that one, that sig sure got me the first time, I thought you had some inflamatory sig which was snipped by the admin but...damn it was a joke. Really good.

I can't claim entire originality for that one.

Good. I like modesty.

I also like ~s.o.s~'s signatures.

Bleh...don't say it aloud that you like my sigs..many people will start glowering at you.:twisted:

Does the fact that English is your second language allow you to write more interesting "enlightenments"?

Yes, sort of. ;)

I like thinking out of the box and writing signatures of the sort never seen on any other forums. But alas they sometimes are misinterpreted so *sigh* I have to change them. Funny you are not aware of the recent hue and cry over my previous signature......

No need to complicate matters, here is a simple way of using the function..

#include <iostream>
#include <windows.h>
using namespace std;

int main(int argc, char** argv)
{
    cout << "Hello" << endl ;
    cout << "Wait for 3 seconds..." << endl ;
    Sleep(5000) ; // takes the time in milliseconds ( 1 second = 1000 milliseconds)
    cout << "World" ;
    getchar( ) ;
    return 0 ;
}
~s.o.s~ 2,560 Failure as a human Team Colleague Featured Poster

I ve been told for a sleep function but i can't find any info about it....Any thoughts on how i should implement this method?

If you are using Linux, then this for sleep and if you are using windows then this.

also is there any way to read the system time through c++?{to know what time appears in the system clock}

Yes there is, use the header file #include <ctime> if using C++ or #include <time.h> if using C. For the header reference see here and here.

thanks in advance for your help....Nicolas
