I have recently become addicted by the many text based games build with PHP and am looking to make one myself.

I know HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and basic PHP, but need help in how i would go about making a server from my computer, and then creating a game that people log into and manage their accounts.

Just to let you know: you're going to need a fair bit of bandwidth from your ISP to be able to host games, even if they are only text-based. For example, ADSL seems fast - but only until you try uploading to clients, and then you realize the truth behind the acronym (Asynchonous DSL).
