Accept the size of the Account array from the user at run time and dynamically allocate the array. If not that, then use vectors.

Account* accArray = new Account[size_from_user];
for(int i = 0; i < size_from_user; ++i)
{
//code
}
delete[] accArray;

Your search function takes an item of type T (which is a structure named Book by the looks of it) and you are trying to pass a string variable to it.

When you are taken for a simpleton, yes its a bad thing. And no one wants those suckers to decide who makes a difference and who doesn't -- everyone has his own opinion.

Just for the record, those who suck others' blood are not called intellectuals, jerks would be more like it.

But don't all these people you speak of only post in the Geek's lounge? If so, then avoiding the geek's lounge would be an easy solution

So does it mean that the regular and older members give up the geek's lounge for raising a valid point ?

Okay I will now explain why exactly this thing is starting to bite everyone. No one minds a bit of fun and frolic -- after all each of us needs a break.

So what does someone come up with ? He / She comes up with a funky game for passing our time. But look and behold -- now everyone wants to come up with his own little contraption -- a new game of which he would be a owner. Enter the proliferation of games -- three word story, music association game, three word game, yes or no etc etc. So where does this leave us? A page full of games? Again, no one minds fun, but anything in excess is harmful / abnormal, even love !!

The powers have been taken away by the moderators to a great extent, they don't have power they used to have, otherwise most of the threads would have got deleted for lack of sensible context. Come to think of it, its rather surprising none of the Geek's Lounge moderators have posted even once in this or the related threads !!

Um, not to sound like an idiot (or a jerk), but how exactly does one give negative rep? Whenever I click on someone's 'add to [name] reputation] in a thread, I get a screen with a single, checked radio button saying 'I approve' and a comment box. Given that there doesn't seem to be any way to disapprove(can't uncheck the button, after all)...am I just cluelessly missing something here that should be blindingly obvious?

Handing out negative reps by normal members have been temporarily disabled by Dani. As of now, only Team Colleagues, Moderators etc. can negative rep.

That said, I'd be happy to consider anything ~s.o.s~ has to say about the matter. Knowing him as I do, I can already tell you it will be tacful and kind.

Thomas, first and foremost to clear things up, I was not trying to judge you as a third party. I was asked a question by Josh and I tried my level best to make him understand things -- things which have been the center point of this debate lately.

I respect your vision and even I would like to have a clean, professional community. But considering a thing like 'Geeks Lounge' exists in all professional forums where people hang out and discuss non-tech things, plus, with the site rules by their side, I am not sure anything can be as such 'legally' done against them.

Unless something is enforced at the admin level to disallow non technical discussions, there is little hope of getting something out of this. Considering that you know Dani personally...

No. For intelligent, respectful members bad rep is useful when they say something they probably shouldn't. For immature jerks, they'll just spaz out no matter what. And I'd really like to see who gave good rep. I could put them on my Christmas Card list...

In other words, if I get bad rep from Dani, SOS, etc, it means something. But from ###, ***, etc, they're just being jerks. I'd like to know if I should listen or not. Otherwise it's less …

Everyone has his own view point. Thomas has his own, I have my own and you have yours. I don't believe in 'shooing' off kids if thats what you are asking. I have no problems with you people posting in word games and what not.

Its just that it is good to comply with the request of senior posters once in a while. Why not try to write properly and avoid l33t speak altogether? Its not that you have anything to lose.

Other than posts with single words like 'Oh yeah', 'lol', 'thanks', 'yep' etc. and l33t speak, I have nothing against you people. :-)

~s.o.s~ 2,560 Failure as a human Team Colleague Featured Poster

It takes 10 infraction points to ban someone. L33t speak fetches you 5 if you are persistent and don't care about the moderator warnings.

~s.o.s~ 2,560 Failure as a human Team Colleague Featured Poster

They use translators which are not perfect. But you can't blame them.

~s.o.s~ 2,560 Failure as a human Team Colleague Featured Poster

Something you kids must read.

We strive to be a community geared towards the professional. We strongly encourage all posts to be in full-sentence English. Please do not use "leet" speak or "chatroom" speak.
What will happen: Offensive material will be snipped out of offending post or censored by bad words filter.
First offense: Member will be warned via user infraction system. Warning will be documented.
Second offense: 5 point infraction will remain on user's record for 6 months.

Being sarcastic is O.K. but doing such things deliberately is not acceptable. Both of you have been warned.

~s.o.s~ 2,560 Failure as a human Team Colleague Featured Poster

I hate when foreigners try to post questions.. It all sounds like jumbled garbage (not anything like 'myspace lingo').

You should not, its not that they are doing it on purpose. Everyone here tries to help out people who are in real need of help but can't express it rather than people who choose to type improperly just because they want to.

~s.o.s~ 2,560 Failure as a human Team Colleague Featured Poster

I'll rephrase: I will use "lol"'s and:D's to establish communication with someone that practices that kind of posting, although I do not use often emoticons and lol-kind-of-abbreviations.

...or you can always request the concerned person to type properly. Three out of ten times, if they are wise enough, they would comply with your request. I myself have converted many l33t speakers to people who make a decent attempt at writing proper English (though not at Daniweb).

~s.o.s~ 2,560 Failure as a human Team Colleague Featured Poster

To be more clearly understood, experienced members/moderators must use abbreviations (and other accessories) that those rookies use, otherwise replies would look too arid.

Oh come on Chaky...

To Josh:

And please don't think all the older members here at Daniweb are trying to shoot you down. Its not about you, its the way with which you present yourself which makes all the difference. And you would be wrong in thinking that one can't achieve humour or fun without leet speak and the likes. Try writing in a proper manner once in a while -- you will like it and make more friends than you already have.

~s.o.s~ 2,560 Failure as a human Team Colleague Featured Poster
