Hello,

I hope you guys could give a direction into this,

I have 2 tables,

1st table has "TeacherID"(prymary autoincrement), "Teacher Name"
2nd table has "classID"(primary, autoincrement), "TeacherID"(relatioship with first table) and "Class name"

Ok, i made one form to enter teacher's name which i had no issues with, then i made the second form to update the second table it has a combobox where the teachers name are showed (populated from the DB) I need to select one teacher from the drop box and enter the class name and update the second table with tracherID as well pulled from the first table to make the relation between what teacher is giving what classes.

Any ideas? i am using VB.NET 2005 with Mysql Connector.net

Thanks

Hi, the RAM soldered on the motherboard, cannot be replaced, Since is soldered, what i did is, replace the 128 Extra that had on the RAM socket, for a brand new 512 MB Kingston module, and then upgraded to 640 MB, i was wrong on my last post, i said i had 768. but this machine has 256 MB from factory 128 Soldered and 128 replaceable

Did you had the non-starting issue too? or was just overheating?

It's a motherboard thing. It just can't handle more than 256 MB in expansion slot. If there were fix for that (downgrading, if I may add) limit it would come in a form of bios upgrade. The upgrades offered on compaq site do not mention anything about memory capacity.

Only advice I can give you is don't use xp but win98. It's less memory-consuming system.

P.S. Post exact model (ex: 700a) for there are many presario 700 submodels. Maybe I was looking up the wrong one.

Hi, i own a "Presario 700" (just 700) and now has 768 Mb, the one that is the soldered on Motherboard 256 MB + a 512 MB upgrade that i have installed. and runs windows XP(sp2) and Linux Mandrake 10.2 with no problem.

Sometimes you have to use the right Memory, this machine has PC-133 Infineon memory installed, so try to get one from same brand, if not, i suggest using Kingston Memory configurator, it tells you the exact model and amount of memory from this brand, that you machine support
ex:
http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator_new/modelsinfo.asp?SysID=11224&mfr=HP%2FCompaq&model=Presario+Notebook+700US%2F701US&root=us&LinkBack=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kingston.com&Sys=11224-HP%2FCompaq-Presario+Notebook+700US%2F701US&distributor=0&submit1=Search

as Chaky said, there are many submodels from 700 model, so try to be accurate on this.

my machine still some times slow, may be because the HD is only 4200 RPM PATA, against my Desktop Machine wich has a 10,000 RPM SATA HD and 2 Gb of RAM so when i use this Presario Laptop feel slower.

Hi, i believe that boot file system are damaged, try this, when starting the machine right after the compaq screen press F8 key and select from boot menu "safe mode" and if this work once in windows go to >>start>>accesories>>tools>> and run scandisk from there, that may fix some damaged files, then reboot and that should work, if not try using your windows disc, boot from CD and use the option repair windows, if that option does not appear on menu, you may have to reinstall all over again, in this cases i suggest to take your computer to a certified technician, because you may want to rescue some information from HD, before formatting and reinstalling the SO. i hope this help.

Hi, well, i'm a computer Technician, i'm from Mexico, so, sorry about my mispelling, i have one of this Presario 700, and i know at least 2-3 guys with same issue, we have read a lot about this particular problem, and haven't resolved it, we believe as many in here, that may be a lose contact between processor pins and the processor Socket, since the only working solution appears to be dissasembling the procesor socket that is made of some kind of plastic and see the way to make every pin socket tight so when processor is re-inserted it will be always good contact. on the other hand when my laptop is working, it can be like that for many hours, i have even tapped a little, or hited and won't stop working, so that may be against this theory of lose processor, because if it is working and we hit the machine it could result on lose contact on pin processor wich can cause frezzing on windows or even re-starting. the other thing to consider is that may be a video card (graphic card) issue, Memory (the one installed, soldered on MB) on both cases we are fried because both of them are within the Motherboard, soldered.
Conclusion:
I'm going to try to do the pin socket tightened and let you know how it went, i have nothing to lose, well a sometimes working machine, wich can be sold as "for parts" and make some good money …

What is the problem you are having with your laptop? What model is it? I would need a little more information before I could even attempt to answer your question.

Hi, well the main problem is the presario 700 won't initiate, when you press the "on" button, the green light comes on, and thats it, no other thing happens, no post on LCD, nothing, so if theres any solution on this, let us know, i have tried changing the boot order, seems to get better but some times won't start, after several times of pressing the on button.
