I'm new to java and am working my way through a textbook. I feel like I'm starting to get the hang of it and so I wanted to learn of opportunities to improve myself.

Are there any open-source projects or other ways for me to try my hand at something that isn't a textbook problem? I'm clearly not good enough to freelance or get a job, but I figure there must be something for a budding programmer such as myself.

Thanks!

Hi,
